“This is why you are considered monsters in need of destruction, because you lack the decency of human kind.” Dere shouted as he collided with Rue, as both were slung over Krom’s shoulder. “Are nyou quite done? Nyou would do good to get used to it.” Rue replied, hissing with the impact. “Sure you’d say that, the time that you can repent will come yet.” Dere whispered harshly to Rue. Soon the bonds that held the two weakened. Dere slid out of his bindings, then pulled Rue out of theirs, holding a short dagger to their back. “Do as I say deity, and keep quiet.” Dere said, leading Rue into the overgrowth. “Hold here, something’s not right.” Oathbreaker said, walking to the back of the group. “Dere’s gone, so is Rue.” She said simply, picking up the cut shards of the knots that were around the legs and arms of the captives. “They could not have gotten far, and in these forests they would dare not get to far.” Parly stated. “Fan out, they must be found.” Einkapf said, none noticing Iris taking to the skys, seeing the pair deep in the overgrowth, the sharp glow of the dagger visible in the gloom of the forests. “Nyou do know nyat nyeir is a good chance nyat nyou and I will be consumed by the undead if we manage to avoid nyem.” Rue said, earning a jab from the dagger. “The undead are by far better than my chance with those beasts.” Dere replied. A guttural howl came from the overgrowth, causing the pair to freeze in place. “Nyou were saying, nyse woods are also occupied by the undead’s predators.” Rue said sharply. “So, you’re a deity, you should be able to blast them away.” Dere said. Rue shook their head. “I’m a deity, sure, but my power is greatly diminished, it would be of no use against the predators in the darkness.” Rue replied, turning towards Dere. “Then why did I bother freeing you, oh, that’s right, to gain revenge upon the being the put me out of the fight.” Dere said, plunging his dagger deep into Rue’s now completely feminine chest. Rue looked down to where the dagger was embedded, then looked up into Dere’s eyes. “I gave nyou the benefit of the doubt, for Rachel, she couldn’t believe nyou would betray everything, so I gave nyou nyat benefit, nyou repay me with nyis?” Rue said, motioning to the dagger, the area around it now stained bright red. Dere went pale, shock on his face as Rue fell to the ground. Picking himself up, he ran out of the thicket, oblivious to the dangers of the forests. “Over here in the thicket, only one of them left.” Iris shouted at the nearest ground party. Einkapf waved in response, then led Parly and Claremont to the thicket. Entering the thicket, Einkapf lit fire magic in his hand and gasped in surprise as he saw the figure lying in the middle of the thicket, a pool of blood surrounding it. “Keep Oathbreaker and Iris from this thicket.” Einkapf said, rushing over to the figure and turning her over. They winced in sympathy as they saw the blade in her chest, quickly they checked for a pulse, finding one, they started applying pressure to the area around the dagger. “Come on, even you don’t deserve to die like this.” Einkapf said, keeping steady pressure applied.
