Cheyenne was struggling to be okay when Mateo was taken by ICE.  Over the four years they'd known each other, they'd gotten very close, and not having him around was hard.  It had gotten easier over time, but it was still a lot to deal with.

The day she came and saw him for the first time, it broke her heart.  She wanted to show him pictures.  She wanted to give him the biggest hug, fuck, she missed him so much.  He was suffering in there.  She could tell before she asked he tell her how he was really doing.

That day she was pissed off at that stupid robot.  In a way it felt like it was replacing her best friend, and that didn't fly with her.  The moment she broke though was when it started bumping into the end cap Mateo set up the day he was taken.  He was knocking stuff over, and she wasn't okay with that.  She saw red and tackled it.

A couple of weeks later, they were giving testimonies for Mateo's release.  Cheyenne wasn't good under pressure, so she wasn't very much help.  But then Jeff came by, and Cheyenne knew what she could do to get her best friend out.  She put an old picture from Jeff's Facebook in a box with Mateo's stuff, making sure it'd be visible when she brought the box to Amy.

Jeff handled the rest, and when everyone went to Sandra's engagement party on Saturday... Mateo was there!  He was actually one of the first ones there, arriving with Marcus.

The moment Cheyenne saw him and they made eye contact, she ran to him and hugged him tight, "You got out!"

He wrapped his arms around her, "Yeah!  Jeff went on the record and said the ICE raid was because of a labor dispute, so now I'm out on bond."

She nodded, eventually pulling away.  She didn't even think about leaving his side until he went home.  She showed him the pictures she'd taken while he was gone, she got him up to date on all of the gossip and that stupid robot.  He couldn't work there anymore, which was still hard, but at least now that he was out, they could see each other in person.
