Jonah was really struggling with the whole 'impressing Amy's family' thing. So far, he was 1 for 4. Her parents didn't like him very much, and he wasn't even close to being interesting to Emma. The only person he had impressed was Parker, who was a baby.
However, with her younger brother moving back, he figured here was a chance to go from 25% to 40%. Still not great, but better. 2 for 5 would be better than 1 for 5 at least.
He wasn't sure how well he was doing on that. Eric had been living in the house for two and a half weeks now, and Jonah wasn't sure if Eric actually liked him, or was just really trying to spare his feelings. He seemed like the type to do that, and sometimes based on his face, Jonah just didn't know.
Today, Amy had decided to bring him to the store for a tour in attempts to get him out of the house. He was now talking with Mateo about sunglasses, and Jonah decided to take the opportunity to say hi.
Eric did the thing he always did. He nodded, he engaged, but he seemed a bit... off? Like he was putting up a front, but he wasn't really feeling the conversation. Jonah didn't give up though, so he decided to go in for a very awkward hug.
He kind of regretted it the moment he latched onto him, but he wasn't going to back down now. He pat his back several times, and then he just. Kept touching him. Even after he pulled away to leave, he pat his shoulder, pat his chest, before he finally walked away.
He might have to settle with only Parker being impressed with him.
