Mateo had been really excited for the chance to propose. Ever since their conversation about the subject, Mateo'd been planning it. He was sure Eric knew what was up, but he still wanted it to be special.
They'd gone to where they had their first date, went on a walk in the park, and decided to watch the sunset.
During the sunset was when Mateo popped the question. Or, well, he tried. He'd gotten down on one knee, but Eric was so focused on the sunset he hadn't seen. Mateo took his hand, but that was so normal, Eric didn't even look. He ended up resorting to kissing Eric's hand, which did grab his attention.
The proposal itself went smoothly. Mateo knew going in that he was getting a yes, but they'd discussed that they wanted to properly get engaged with a proposal. Mateo had been pretty set on being the one to do it when they'd talked, so Eric just waited and let him.
The future was looking bright.
