                                              Mateo got into the car with tears in his eyes.  He looked at the driver's side and saw Eric staring right back at him with worry.
                          "What happened?"
                          Mateo sniffled, "I just found out cloud 9 is closing.  Meaning..."

                          Eric frowned when he stopped, but he knew what this was about, "You're going to lose your job."
                          Mateo nodded silently.  He was trying to hold back the stinging in his eyes, but it was hard.  He was heartbroken.  He felt Eric take his hand and just start rubbing circles on the back with his thumb.  No words were needed.  It was a shitty situation, and they both understood that.  So for now, Mateo just let himself focus on the circles.  It felt like it was all he had.
