Mateo's hands were usually pretty warm.  It wasn't anything special, honestly.  They were a bit warmer than usual, but oh well.

Eric's hands were freezing.  It felt like he had no circulation going to his hands.  His extremities were all pretty cold.

When they both shook hands for the first time, it was a shock to both of them.  If it weren't for the fact that they didn't know each other, Mateo would have loved to take his hands and just hold them.  He loved the cold.  It was a firm, ice cold grip that lasted for all of two seconds.

For Eric it was the opposite.  His hands were partially cold because he'd just come from outside in the middle of autumn, and it was cold enough he was wearing a coat, so to shake Mateo's hand, to feel that comforting warmth against his palm, was incredibly nice.  Even when their hands pulled away, Eric could feel where Mateo's hand had touched his skin.  He could feel the heat.  The handshake lasted for two seconds but he could still feel the impact two hours later.
