"Hey, Emma. Can I talk to you?" Jonah walked into the living room where she was sitting, doing something on her phone.
"Sure? What do you need?" She put her phone down and looked at him.
Jonah sat down next to her, fiddling with his hands while he tried to figure out exactly how to say what he wanted to say, "Um... well, you know, um, your mom and I have been dating for a while. And- and I've been thinking a lot, about what the next step in our relationship should be? But last time I-"
Emma put her hand on his mouth to stop him, "Jonah. Are you telling me you want to propose to my mom?"
Jonah noticed she didn't move her hand, so he just nodded.
Emma nodded too, "Okay, then I think you should go for it. She was miserable in California without you. Didn't she say she wants to marry you now? You should go for it." She did move her hand now, figuring Jonah would want to respond more verbally.
"Y-Yeah, but... I just wanted to make sure that was going to be okay with you too." Jonah smiled.
Emma nodded, "Well, I think it'd be a good thing."
