Mateo had been pretty stunned when Jonah's fist hit his face, but he couldn't bring himself to be mad. He'd asked for it, literally, and even though it was too late, Jonah couldn't have known that.

Cheyenne helped him up and brought him away so they could sit alone, "What did you say?"

Mateo sighed, shaking his head, "I didn't know what to say. I tried to tell him the truth, but I got too scared, so I told him I wasn't in love with him." He pushed his glasses off of his eyes to cover them with his hand, "I feel terrible... he looked so upset. He probably hates me."

Cheyenne wrapped an arm around him to try and make him feel a little better, "Come on, I don't think he could hate you. He might be mad, sure, but I don't think he'd be able to hate you."

Mateo nodded, "I hope you're right. Maybe it'll work out."

After a little bit, Jonah came by with some ice for Mateo's face and apologized, but Mateo was quick to tell him he wasn't mad. It was a sucky situation, but he wasn't angry at Jonah.
