Eric was really cute. Mateo knew that, of course. He loved that Eric was cute. But unfortunately, a lot of people also seemed to think he was cute too.
He'd catch people staring sometimes. At first, he didn't really mind, but as they got closer and more serious, and it became more clear that they were planning on spending their lives together, Mateo got a bit more bothered.
The weirdest thing was that Eric didn't usually seem to notice. A lot of people could tell when people were staring at them, but if they weren't in Eric's line of sight, he never seemed to notice.
Somehow, that made it a bit worse in Mateo's mind.
Recently, Mateo figured out grabbing Eric's hand made him feel better about it. It made other people see Eric was taken in his mind, and Eric didn't need to know where his mind was when he did it. To him it was just innocent hand-holding, which he tended to really like anyway.
