When Eric had gotten the call from his mom about his engagement to Mateo, it was safe to say he was confused, but definitely feeling excited.
He went to the store to say hi and figure out what was going on, and he was a bit disappointed to learn Mateo wasn't really planning for them to actually get married, and it was a mistake. Instead of being upset though, he tried to reassure him it was okay.
When Mateo started thinking though, he decided out loud that he did want to get married. Which was really exciting again. Eric also wanted to get married.
Truthfully that's something he'd wanted for a while now, but he was hesitant to bring it up, knowing Mateo seemed to stress about that kind of commitment. Being shut down scared him.
As soon as they were in agreement, they shared a kiss almost like a promise, to keep to it and take that step together.
