It's officially Christmas and I can't wait to properly begin the day.
It's still early and I leave a sleeping Zawe in bed to reach Charlie's room.
I turn the little light on and see him wide awake kicking his legs as he is swaddled in his cot.
"Good morning and merry Christmas!" I say picking him up and kissing him
"Should we change you?"
I lay him down on the changing table and after changing his diaper I dress him in a Christmas outfit for the day.
Once I'm done I pick him up again and go to my study for some time waiting for Zawe to wake up.
As I'm there with Charlie sitting on my lap I grab my phone and text the marvel chat to see if they are almost ready for the New Year plan.

At nine there's a soft knock on the door and Zawe's head peeking out.
"Morning boys!" She says happily and comes in
"Hi, Merry Christmas love! Should we say hi to mummy?" I say to Charlie in a baby voice as I stand up and walk to her.
"Hi baby!" She says grabbing him from me.
We go into the kitchen and have a very light breakfast since we are going to go at my mum's for lunch and we know she is going to cook a lot.
"What time do we have to be there?"
"Mum said at noon, Emma is there already"
"Ok! I'll go take a shower and then the bathroom is yours"
"Ok, I'll play with this little guy"
I sit him in the high chair and start to play peekaboo
"Peekaboo!" I say taking my hands off my face and making a silky expression and he giggles kicking his legs around
"Oh, peekaboo!"
"Here comes the tickle monster!" I move my fingers and touch his chest lightly tickling him and he starts to laugh pretty loudly
"I didn't know you had all those laughs in you!"

When we got ready we drove to my mum's and got greeted by her and my little sister and a big lunch. Every year the menu is pretty much the same because we have a traditional Christmas meal.
We talk m, laugh and joke around, then my mother does something that in the past year she hasn't done yet: taking out the photos from where I was a baby.
"Oh my god, you looked so cute here!" Zawe exclaims
"Are you saying I'm not cute now?"
"Now you are handsome!" She says smirking, making me blush a little.
"Mum I think that's enough..." I say after an hour of us sitting on the sofa watching over pictures
"Have you showed her the one from Sarah's birthday?"
"Emma! Not that one please!" I say looking at my mother
"What's with that particular photo?"
"It's quite embarrassing" I say
"Can I tell her?" Emma says
"No!"
"Fine..."

After exchanging presents and drinking mum's hot chocolate and another biscuit we head back home full of joy from the lovely day we spent.
"Sorry for not giving you your gift at your mum's, I forgot to bring it" Zawe says sitting near me in the carpet where I was taking pictures of Charlie
"It's ok, don't worry"
"Here you go" she says
"Thanks" I say kissing her cheek
It's something soft wrapped in a very Christmassy red and gold paper.
"That's cute!" I say looking at it "but why are you giving it to me?"
"Find out yourself..."
I look back at the tiny piece of clothing I'm holding
