Chapter 38: Flight

Nagising ako sa init na nagmumula sa bintana. I glance at the clock and it says 6:20AM. I excitingly glance at the man in the couch, snoring with his hands at his stomach.

I pulled myself up as I went to him. He's peaceful when sleeping, but noisy in reality. I crossed my hands as I stared at him for a minute and was about to take my eyes away from him but he caught my hands.

“Going away? After staring at my ruggedly handsome face?” there was a hint of teaseful tone in his voice.

I smiled, “Hindi naman, mga one half lang,” I teased back.

“Ah? Really? Hali ka nga,” he pulled me that's why I was now laying at his left side. The couch is a little big though.

We were silent after minutes of hugging each other, I can hear his breath in my ears.

“Ba’t ang tahimik mo?” I can't help but ask. I watch him and he was seriously looking at me.

“Wala lang, just wanna feel the moment. Last day mo na dito bago ka aalis diba? I'm charging,” he muttered.

I shot a brow at him, “Cellphone?”

He laughed, “Slow talaga. I mean, nagchacharge ako sayo, like parang 45% pa ako ngayon. I'm gonna miss you, that's why,” saad niya at hinalikan ang noo ko.

Butterflies were flying again.

“Mm.” Tango ko. “May tanong ako.”

He nodded, “What is it?”

“Am I giving you butterflies?”

Napalunok siya ng tanungin ko sa kaniya yon. What? I was just asking him! Besides, he is giving me too.

“Question ba yan?” tanong niya ng pabalang.

I stared at him before giggling, “Sagutin mo nalang. Dami pang sinasabi eh,” sabi ko.

He rubbed his temple because of stress, “Yeah, the whole z-zoo b-babe.”

I laughed hardly because of his statement. The whole damn zoo? Parang kanta ata yan.

He gave me a shot by doing something in my forehead, “Aray!”

“Ba’t kaba tumatawa ha?” Tanong niya sakin at sinakal ako ng pabiro.

“Eh? Why zoo? Am I supposed to be so serious? Ulol kaba?” sabi ko at tinignan siya ng masama habang hinihimas ang noo ko.

He became serious, “Seriously, I'm afraid. Alam mo na, baka ano... like makakakita ka ng mas mahigit pa sakin diba?” he said, frightened.

My smile remained but the look in my eyes shifted, “No, sabi ko naman diba mabilis lang ako—”

“Kahit na. Don't promise me.” Ice affirmed, making me pout.

Lumingon ako sa kaniya habang nakahiga padin, “You don't trust me anymore?” I asked.

I caressed his face, making his breathing hitch. I started running my fingers into his hair trailing into his lips.

“I-i trust you, but...”

I tsked, “You don't, too bad—” I said, toying his words. “Make it more convincing,” I added.

He sighed, “Okay, look,” he made me face him. “I trust you. But the people around you, I don't. I don't want us to end Jas, I feel safe when I'm with you...”

“A little more convincing—” I cut it off. “Joke! I promise, I'll be back for you,” I said, “Now let's get ready, my flight's coming,” tumayo na ako at inayos yung sarili ko.
