His Beethoven

All I can hear was my mom's laugh while looking at my younger brother who is now making a popping sound using his saliva. While dad was fixing the gifts under the Christmas tree.

I grunted as I looked at the clock near my dad's. Oh shit, I'm gonna be late.

“Lola, gonna go now,” I said to my grandmother who's now reading with my sister.

I even showed him my teeth.

He sighed, “Sorry Tin, sabi kasi ng daddy mo wag kang ihatid lalo na’t matigas padin ang ulo mo ngayon,” I heard him chuckle.

I made a face before running to our neighbors. How can I change when they aren't even talking to me?

“Ate Melva! Pasakay naman ako, please po...” I even pouted.

“Naku kang bata ka! May ginawa kana naman no?” tanong niya sakin.

I didn't do it, someone made me do it. I don't have the intention to break the glass in his head but... if I will not do that they will continue to bully me. They will stomp my feet, tap me with a pencil, and even kick me.

Our lives we're not meant to be static all the time.

I'm so hungry, but I don't have enough money to buy something.

Kumalam agad yung sikmura ko at nagulat nalang ako ng may batang tumabi sakin. Her cheeks were too big and her eyes were translating the word Happy.

She gave me a sandwich that made my brows twist. “Kunin mo na hihi,” she giggled.

She's been doing this since my dad doesn't care if I ate or not.

I don't know her name, so I asked her. “Pangalan mo?”

She smiled, “Min.”

I nodded, looks like this girl had been taught by her parents so well. Too much information can put you in danger. Ever since I was a kid, all I heard from my parents is I'm a very bad child. That I'm not important to them. So, I just shrugged everytime I heard it from them.

“Ilang taon kana?”

She smiled again, “10.”

I smiled for the first time. Hmm, so... I'm older than her for two years?

“Why...? Are you looking at me like that?”

She didn't answer instead she stand up and held my hands. “T-teka... san tayo pupunta?” tanong ko. Ang lambot ng kamay niya.

She gave me a smile, “You’ll know,” she said. I rolled my eyes.
