𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐇𝐘𝐔𝐍𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐊 𝐘𝐀𝐍𝐆, 𝐎𝐁𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐆 was his best ability. He noticed everything, from the slightest hitch of a breath to the most rapid blink of an eye.

Sometimes, he thought his brain had a different frequency than the rest. He felt out of place most of the time, and the only thing that comforted him was the creatures that lived in the Forbidden Forest.

He could attribute why he couldn't talk to human beings to how he grew up in childhood. After the First Wizarding War, his parents immigrated from South Korea to Great Britain. He could still remember the trip, although it had become foggy. Hyunshik had never had any friends before Tom had recruited him and the rest to be part of his followers. To call them friends would be an overstatement. They were acquaintances at most, except for Pansy.

It had been hard at first to communicate with her. Hyunshik's lack of sharing his interests and emotions with her had bored her, but Pansy had found that Hyunshik always listened to her, and when no one was there for her, Hyunshik was. So they developed a deep bond of friendship.

Thankfully, Tom had recruited her too, so that they could spend time together. The only thing that Hyunshik didn't like about the knights was that they were unstable. It was true. He liked sameness. He could eat cereal every day and not get bored of it, but there was always a change of plans with Tom in his days.

Just a few minutes ago, he had been eating the same dinner he was accustomed to eating for five years, but Tom had sent him a look and ordered him to follow Ariadne. Hyunshik knew the way through the forest like the back of his hands, and the girl had not been checking if anyone was following her. He stood behind a tree, watching her rub her face frustratedly with water.

He had not grown bored. Of course, he was in his natural element, and perhaps after watching the assassin, Hyunshik could walk around the forest and see if any new creatures appeared.

Ariadne turned around, her shoulders sagging as she sighed. She rubbed at her temple, and when she removed her hand, Hyunshik saw a mark in the middle of her forehead.

It was utterly black like someone had smeared charcoal on her forehead. It made an odd shape that Hyunshik couldn't decipher, and quietly he took out his wand and began making the shape in the tree's bark.

"Sorry," Yang whispered to the tree.

When he finished the spell, he stepped back to inspect his handiwork. Satisfied with how it turned out, he looked at the edge of the Great Lake and found that Katarina Crowell, a Ravenclaw a year below them, was holding Ariadne.
