𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐔𝐓 between Levina and Ariadne ran across the school, filling people's mouths. Dacquer could not blame her, and even though she did not know the truth about Ariadne, the assassin was designed to kill. It was just a natural reaction for her.

"I can't believe she said that," someone whispered, and Ariadne instantly recognized it as Yasmine's voice. Her head swiveled to the side as Tom and she passed the Muggle-born, who glanced at the assassin warily.

Celestia pulled Yasmine close, and Ariadne felt something pierce her heart.

"Well, you know what they say. Once a pureblood supremacist, always a pureblood supremacist," Celestia drawled, and Ariadne bit her lip, clutching her books so tightly her fingers whitened.

A pair of fingers snapped in front of her, and the demigoddess blinked. "Focus," Tom ordered.

But the girl couldn't. She stared at the tapestry in front of her as the Room of Requirement began to open up for them. They entered it swiftly, and Tom chastised her, knowing what the girl thought exactly when her old friends passed her.

"Your problem is that emotions conquer you."

Tom's voice snapped her back into reality as he began to order their things away. "Instead of keeping yourself in check," Tom continued his hands behind his back, "emotions are the ones who keep you in check."

He stopped in front of her, and Ariadne exhaled.

"You are calculating when it comes to murder, but you are out of balance when it comes to fighting," he said, and Ariadne bit her lip. "You should be able to identify a weakness and exploit it; have a purpose in mind. With Levina, you only wanted to hurt her, but you should have weakened her first, and instead of striking first, you should worry about striking hard when the time comes."

"Spare me the lecture," Ariadne snapped. She had already gone through the duel more than ten times over her head. She had found many errors in her strategy, and truthfully, she did not like being scolded, much less by Riddle.

Tom cocked an eyebrow. "Someone must tell you the truth, and unfortunately, it has to be me."

Ariadne was about to respond when the doors to the Room of Requirement suddenly opened. Light chatter filled her ears as five of Tom's knights strode in. When their eyes landed on her, however, the conversation ceased.
