Kit sang to herself as she baked chocolate flake cookies and took some improvisation on the ingredients, but merle was nice enough to get them for her. kit would have found it suspicious if he wasn't trying to bed Olivia. she went upstairs to change to a white dress while rick was finishing up in the shower. She layed a white dress shirt out for him before going back downstairs, where Daryl was now standing at the counter with Judith sharing a cookie.
"you just get back?" she asked, walking over
"yeah. you look nice."
"thank you, dar," she pecked his cheek as she rounded the counter to start plating the cookies for the welcome party at Deanna's.
"you gonna make me come?" Daryl asked
kit smiled, "no, as much as I would like you to at least try, I know you. groups of strangers and socializing aren't your thing."
Daryl grunted, taking another cookie "you ready?" rick asked, walking into the kitchen
"yeah." Daryl handed Judith to rick
kit brushed the hair out of his face kissing him briefly "seriously, don't feel obligated, dar, we get it. okay?"
"kay"
"good. love you!"
As soon as the two walked into the party, a curly-haired woman had relieved kit of the platter of cookies, ricks arm taking a firm hold on kit, feeling anxious himself. "welcome," Deanna said, walking up to them, the boys walking off to find their friends.
"hi." kit said, smiling kindly despite her nervous anxiety thru the roof.
"oh, it's so good to see you both. Thank you for coming. you know, I didn't get a chance to interview this one-" Deanna cooed at Judith "- I envy her"
"why?" rick asked
"she'll be set to see what this place will become. Please come on in." they walked further into the home, kit picking up a glass of wine as she passed by a table as an older couple stole Judith from rick.
"you're rick and kit" rick turned with kit, so they faced Deanna and an older gentleman.
"Rick, Kit, this is my husband, Reg." Deanna looked up at him with such a deep love that warmed kit to see still existed in the world.
"you're both pretty remarkable," reg says politely.
"how's that?" rick asks, shifting his thumb to rub the fabric on kits dress.
"I watched the tapes. All of them. The things those people said about you both and your other partner Daryl. the things you've done for them."
"I heard you built the wall out there; that seems pretty impressive to me. I tried helping carl build a model for his science class one time. It was a complete disaster." they all chuckled.
"Yeah, I did but with a lot of help. It's a damned achievement, but it's a wall. Compared to 14 lives in this world. I'm glad you're both here. now take a glass," reg offered rick a whiskey glass
"I'm good."
"you don't have to be," reg persuaded
kit nudged rick smiling a little; both men chuckled as he took the glass, "there you go. cheers." rick tightened his hold on kit as he drank, seeing Pete enter with his family.
kit watched rick over her wine glass as he and merle talked, then merle slipped out the door. "hey kit, this is my husband Pete." kit turned to face Jessie
"we actually work together. small community." kit chuckled an arm sliding back to her waist
"Pete, this is my boyfriend rick." kit introduced
