Three years later
"Mom! Dad's home!" Jody called before coming in, a snickering carl following him. Rick started chuckling as well as Kit's eyes widened, almost choking on her cinnamon roll.
"You forget to chew your food," Daryl asked, coming into the kitchen, eyeing the snickering boys strangely as he took a roll from the pan.
"Find anything?" Rick asked, taking a sip of his coffee as Daryl inhaled the cinnamon roll.
"yeah, Eugene is taking it to inventory," he said with a mouth full, taking out another roll.
"Run into any trouble?" Kit asked. He grunted a no. Kit chewed on her lip, fighting the word vomit, wanting to spill out of her mouth as her leg bounced up and down rapidly on the barstool.
Daryl licked his finger clean before noticing how quiet it was and how anxious kit looked; everyone else fighting smiles as they kept peaking at the woman like she was going to explode. "Oh god, what did you do?" he asked Kit, his hand dropping to the counter.
"I found a dog, and he's so cute I couldn't just leave him. I figured you could take him out with you as backup when we can't, and I could finally have a dog." She nervously smiled
Daryl squinted at her. "You got a dog?"
Kit didn't answer and bolted to the door to the back yard kneeling "Come here, boy. come here." she cooed.
A high-pitched bark was the response before a ball of brown and black fur collided into her. She giggled as the dog attacked her face with kisses as she struggled to see where she was going to get to Daryl, who finally gave up and went and took it from her arms. "It's a boy," Kit cooed, petting him as she took a treat out of the pocket of her jeans.
"he's still little Kit. I can't take him out." Daryl reasoned as he set the wild ball of fur on the ground, his tiny body immediately zooming all over the living room.
"But you can when he's bigger. please, please please I got a collar, and everything" Kit clasped her hands, begging.
"Kit, we talked about this. He can't wear a collar; if he goes out, a walker could grab hold of it." Rick sighed
"Fine, no collar. Please Dar." she pressed, adding a pouty lip to the mix.
Daryl sighed rubbing his face, "fine. What's his name?"
Jody and carl both burst out laughing "yeah, what's his name?"
"I didn't do it on purpose. I just wanted you to be able to name your new companion out there, and now he's just stuck on it." Kit whined
Daryl looked at her expectantly. "It's dog." she grumbled, said dog zooming into her legs upon hearing his 'name'
Daryl snorted. "At least he won't forget what he is."
Five years later
"Daryl!" Judith called, running after him, his vest clutched in her hands.
"What's up? I gotta go help your dad?"
"Mom helped me fix your vest; she didn't want it looking ratty for the wedding. Do you like it? I Painted it myself."
Daryl held it out to see the new angel wing to replace the missing one on the right side; instead of white this one was a fade of blues lightest to dark. "oh hell yeah," he grinned, sliding it on. "thank you." he said sincerely as he hugged her tight.
"Go on now and help Sasha and your Mom. They're gonna lose their minds if the wedding isn't perfect or whatever that means."
"They already snapped at jerry for the large amounts of cobbler. And mom put dog in a doggie tux." She snickered, skipping away.
