Kit pulled herself up on a wood beam she was using as a pullup bar outside the church. Her days were becoming restless and repetitive under the weight of it all. she was mentally exhausted all the time, but her body begged to be out there, outside the walls. Not breaking up petty, meaningless fights between other women over a tomato, dealing with and talking to the workers in charge of all the construction within the walls. And as much as she cherished every moment she had chasing Tj and Judith around, her body craved the adrenaline it was so used to.

"Kitty Cat," Daryl whistled, catching her attention as he and rick approached; she dropped off the 'bar,' her biceps twitched as they were freed from the strain she was putting them under.

"We're headed to the bridge. Eugene radioed in, the river is rushing, and he thinks the bridge won't hold." Rick told her, his hands going to his hips, small sweat spots on his shirt already becoming visible under the scorching sun.

"So we won't be able to finish the construction yet? Or it's gonna tear the whole thing down?" she asked before taking a drink from her water bottle.

"Don't know yet," Daryl answered, cutting a piece off his apple and then eating it.

"Maggie is supposed to come here at some point and take a look at what has been written so far for the charter and make sure it's not complete shit for her people." she sighed, walking closer to them.

"Well, if anyone gives me hope for how things can turn out, it's you. You know that, right?" Rick said softly, pushing her ponytail over her shoulder.

Kit huffed a small smile " I'm still trying to figure things out. Just like everybody else. We'll figure out the bridge, rick, even if we have to build the stupid thing all over again." rick nodded, his hand cradling the back of her head as he kissed her.

When he stepped back, Daryl shoved a slice of apple in her mouth before kissing her. "Behave," rick pointed at her as he and Daryl turned to leave.

"What am I gonna do, start a rebellion?" she called after them

"I could see it," a woman said, walking up to her

"Well fuck you too, Nora" kit chuckled

"Just calling it like I see it, miss temper." she chuckled, crossing her arms.

"Alright, lay it on me. What kind of day am I gonna have?"

"Mostly bad. we've given up about a fourth of our tomato crops to the crows."

"We need to plant more stakes, flags, peppermint, reflectors, and some other deterrents," kit sighed.

"We could. There's just too many of 'em. seems like one of these things where the world's starting to have an edge over us."

"Once we get the windmill up and running, it'll help. I'll talk to Eugene the next time I see him, see if he has any big brain energy ideas."

Nora nodded "alright."

"what else?"

Nora hesitated before continuing, "Negan. Scott tried to feed him this morning. He won't eat. He wouldn't eat yesterday either. I was gonna try at lunch. I know you-"

"That's okay. I'll handle it."

"You sure? Cause I don't-"

"I'm sure I can handle it. But thank you, Nora." Kit gave her a friendly smile, perfectly concealing what was brewing inside her.

"Just doing my job." Nora smiled back before leaving Kit alone. Of course, he just had to act out while Rick was out.
