Kit and Daryl sat by the window again for their turn in rotation; Kit was struggling to stay awake as the two teens bantered back and forth with each other over who's life these days were better. "Your dad's an asshole like mine." Lydia spat suddenly. "All you did was sneak out. is it even that hard? are there a lot of guards posted here?" Kits head shot towards the window, knowing exactly what the girl was doing.
"Daryl's my father-in-law, and he's only so mad because of the unknown threat you and your group pose for Kit. She's like my third mom, so I can get it." Henry defended, avoiding giving her info.
"I thought you said your mom died?"
"She did, yeah, my adoptive father remarried. I'm lucky to have them; they're tough. Not people you want to mess with. Hey, what happened to your dad?"
"My dad was a stupid man. My mom, she kept me alive. Kept me safe. She's a lot like your mom, Kit. You don't mess with her, either." she said solemnly. "Why aren't your parents here?"
"they're the leaders of another community. Where I'm from."
"Is it far? what's it called?" Lydia asked. Kit and Daryl shot to their feet, running to the cellar door.
"It's called the kingdom. It's probably like a day's ride from here." he answered right as they flung the cellar doors open. Kit stood behind Daryl as he started undoing the lock on Henry's cell. "Hey, what's going on?"
"You're done, Henry, out." Kit said sharply, trying to keep her calm. as Daryl pulled him out of the cellar.
"What the hell's wrong with you? huh?" Daryl growled
"You just put your family, everything your father worked so hard for, at risk Henry."
"I'm sorry okay? I Didn't think that it would- wait, you two were listening?"
"Yeah, of course, we were. We've been switching off, Enid and a few of the others, seeing what she'd say to you." Daryl spat.
"So you were using me?"
"No, you still had due's to pay for already acting out, not even after 48 hours of being here. if you thought for a second you wouldn't be monitored while that conniving little girl was down there, you are sadly mistaken." Kit said annoyed
"She's a good person who got messed up out there. You want answers get 'em yourselves." Henry sassed, storming away.
~Time skip~
Kit walked down to the girl's cell by herself, her steps slow and patient; she could feel the girl's eyes watching her as she grabbed a chair from the wall and took a seat.
Kit exhaled thru her nose, looking at the filthy teenager. "You finally come to kill me?" she asked weakly.
Kit snorted, shaking her head and sticking her hand inside her jacket, pulling the bottle of antibiotics from her pocket and showing it to her. "Ear infection?"
The girl looked away, not responding. "No? Huh, fun fact, did you know an ear infection left untreated could result in hearing loss, could also spread to your brain resulting in meningitis. now that can be a very slow excruciating death if also left untreated." Kit clicked her tongue, putting them back in her jacket pocket. "Your choice, though; I do still hold some regards to patient privilege." The girl still looked at anything but Kit. "Two of our people are still missing; we found their horses, though. Half-skinned, half-eaten. Your mother do that?"
"How would I know? I've been here." the girl sassed
"Yes, except kids have a habit of recognizing their own parent's habits. So let me rephrase that, what would your mother do if she crossed some of our people? Would she kill them?"
