That night Kit and Daryl got into their first spat, the only one kit had taken seriously since they met. he was furious she went after Pete, and she was too headstrong to back down. They hardly spoke to each other for a week, he had too much pride, and she was too petty. Neither would break despite the new oncoming threat of a large mass of walkers that could wipe Alexandria off the map. Rick often had to play mediator between the two as the preparations were made to lure them away. Tara had woken up on the bright side, and kit gained an assistant named Denise, a med school dropout turned therapist. Pete apparently had something against the woman, but kit quite liked the anxious blonde. Unfortunately, this freed up kits time, giving their new arrival Morgan plenty of time to repeatedly corner the woman.

Morgan approached kit with two sticks, Jody quickly walking off to leave her to her own devices. he tossed one at her, and she looked at it perplexed "is this a broomstick?"

"what it is doesn't matter. What you do with it does. I was where you are now not long ago, with different goals. But the result is still the same. There's still death, and you're still filled with so much anger and pain. I see it because I know it. I know you won't ever stop going the mile to do what it takes. Theodore was very clear on that when we spoke. But he did express his concerns about your lack of balance. I want to help you."

"I don't have time for this or your philosophies right now, Morgan." kit scoffed.

"humor me for a moment then."

"Jesus," she mumbled, "fine, let's get this over with," rolling her eyes and mentally cursing her so-called brother.

"steady breaths, follow my movements." kit moved to face him, her feet to copy his stance, spacing her hands comfortably on the wood. " you attack, you're good at it, but now it's about redirecting-" they swing "-evading-" they twirled their staffs in large circles "-and actually caring about the welfare of your opponent." they raised them in a stabbing position above their heads before twirling them back down hard. "so you have to care about yourself. you have to believe your life is precious, that all life has meaning-" they bowed to each other "- what you've done is done. to move forward, to make up for it you will have to find a balance. you must accept who you were and what you've become-" he swung at her, she ducked spinning to block his next move.

Daryl knelt in front of their house, making minor adjustments to his bike while watching kit and Morgan. Rick and merle walk out of the house behind him.

"I see he's finally cornered her," Rick said

"or she just got annoyed," merle chuckled; Daryl grunted, slightly tensing when Morgan smacked the back of her legs; rick turned so he wouldn't get the urge to run over there.

"he told me what happened out there with the trucks. asked him and Aaron not to tell kit, don't need her trying to wring your neck for something else right now." rick said, watching Daryl

Daryl nodded, standing  "he tell you about those guys he met? the W's?" he asked, pointing to his forehead.

"like that walker, we saw, yeah," merle said, taking a swig of water

"we need more watchpoints, and I'm gonna tell Deanna we don't need to go looking for people anymore." rick said. he and Daryl just stared at each other for a minute till Daryl looked away, biting his thumbnail. "you feel different about it?" rick pressed

Daryl looked back at him, nodding. "Yeah, I do," he said honestly

"alright then we stop, for now, just till we figure out the W men situation. we cant bring a threat inside, not while everything is still fragile." rick compromised, placing his hands on his hips, kit walked by ignoring all three men as she went inside.
