Kit sat on Daryl's lap in the back seat of the silver suburban, her eyes closed as he drew little patterns on her right hand as her mind consumed her. Every now and then, when she wasn't thinking of plans, it wandered to Theodore. But thinking of him hurt her deeply because she knew she wasn't even trying to stay in the light. Instead, she let her anger and her hate drive her. Kit opened her eyes, feeling the SUV come to a stop. She opened the door awkwardly, hopping out, her eyes taking in her surroundings of mostly brick buildings.
"It's called the kingdom?" Rick clarified
"Yeah. I didn't name it." Jesus exhaled
"How much farther?" Rick asked annoyed
"Well, technically, we're already here. I mean, we're always here, but here we are at the kingdom." Paul held out his arms "well; it's outer edge," he clarified
"Paul," kit sighed, giving him a get on with it look. Standing around in an abandoned black asphalt parking lot sporting a leather jacket was getting toasty.
"Right, sorry, we were just waiting for them," he pointed behind her. Kit turned now, hearing horses' hoofbeats more clearly as two men trotted towards them on gorgeous creme-colored horses.
"Who dares to trespass on the sovereign land of the" one man started, but he stopped as they got closer.
" oh shit. Jesus, is that you?" The other asked. Paul raised his hand in silent greeting; Daryl reached forward, grabbing the kit's belt loop and pulling her back towards himself and rick.
"Who are all these people, paul?" He asked, looking at them, all his eyes lingering on merles hand extension
"Hi, Richard. Nice to see you." Jesus said, stepping up to the two men still on their horses.
"It's good to see you too. your friends, who are they?" Richard asked
Paul turned back to the trio extending his arm "this is a kitten and her husbands rick grimes and Daryl Dixon. They're the leaders of a like-minded community. These are some of their people-" he indicated to everyone else "- we would like to request an audience with King Ezekiel."
Richard swung his leg over, got off the saddle, and walked towards them with a gun in hand, taking a closer look at everyone. "You say they're a like-minded community. Like-minded how?" He asked Jesus
"We live, we trade, we fight the dead. Sometimes others." Kit rolled her eyes at Paul's beat around the bush attitude.
"Line up," Richard ordered
"We're here for a possible alliance." Kit interjects
"The king is one for peace-" Richard deflected
"Peace doesn't exist when you're under the thumb of a tyrant." She cut him off. Richard stared at the woman for a moment than the others and realized it was about negan.
He nodded "car stays outside. You gotta hand over your guns."
"We only have three," Rick said as he, carl, and Jody handed theirs over.
"Okay. Follow me." Richard instructed, grabbing the horse's reigns and leading them on foot.
When they stepped foot into the kingdom, the first thing kit noticed was all the gardens, people happily chatting as they worked, and a group jogging with chest armor. It was nice.
"They have the numbers," michonne muttered
"But can they fight?" Rosita asked
"Oh, they can fight," Jesus replied
Kit hummed, looking to the side as Morgan walked out of a glass panel door with Richard. She pursed her lips, saying nothing; his face was already speaking volumes.
