They tracked Henry's footsteps all night and most of the morning until they merged with a much larger grouping of tracks. "He caught up with them," merle pointed out the obvious.

"Looks like he was caught too," kit added, eyeing a spot that had signs of a struggle.

The dog barked, catching their attention. "Good boy," Daryl praised, petting dog's head as he bent over to pick up henry's stick.

"Looks like they went that way," merle read Connie's note as she patted his arm, Daryl and kit simultaneously shooting their bows, killing two walkers that were approaching from a bit of ways away. Daryl whistled, and dog ran over, fetching both the arrow and bolt, bringing them back to Daryl, and kit reached in her pocket, pulling out a treat for him.

~Time skip~

the sun was setting by the time they found the group, watching them from the trees, as they dragged freshly dead bodies out of the woods to feed their pet walkers. Daryl and Kit moved in sync, getting up from where they were crouched, and started to go around to kill the man who was keeping the walkers at bay from the camp. Once chaos ensued in the camp as the walkers attacked them, Kit and Daryl snuck in with stolen masks, quickly finding henry and Lydia as they just stood still looking like deer. "Henry, we need to go," Daryl whispered, grabbing henrys arm and startling the boy.

"Both of you, let's go." Kit Pressed, grabbing Lydia's arm, and ran, knowing henry would follow like a lost puppy. Kit and Daryl ripped off the masks and tossed them as they got out of the camp and headed back to where they left Connie and Merle waiting. Once they regrouped dog led them as they ran thru the night towards Alexandria and Kingdom's direction. Henry abruptly fell, making them all stop. "You, okay?" kit asked, winded kneeling next to him.

"This isn't the way back to the hilltop." Henry heaved, looking around

"That's gonna be the first place they come a lookin for you both can't go back," Merle said, bending over and catching his breath.

"He's right. There are too many of them. Alpha would destroy Hilltop to get me back now." Lydia told the boy.

"And why didn't you tell us there was that many of them?" Daryl growled at the girl.

"You kept me locked in a cage. What did you expect? I wasn't going to betray my own people." Lydia defended

"Don't, you don't get to use that excuse you knew damn well you weren't ever going to get to go back. That psycho bitch doesn't even let her daughter call her mother. She didn't even come to get you because she loved you, did she? what was it? for Information?" Kit asked annoyed

"I didn't tell her anything, I swear, I could have, but I didn't. she was gonna make me kill Henry-" she choked on a sob, cutting herself off.

"We gotta go. come on." Daryl said, hearing the lack of distant chaos; he pulled henry up and started running.

"We need to find a chokepoint." Kit said as they ran

"I don't understand," henry piped up

"High ground, kid, Separate the living from the dead," Merle explained, taking the lead with Connie as she pointed to a tall apartment building in the distance.

"If we go up there, we're trapped," Lydia said loudly; they all stopped to look at her. " Alpha's not gonna send an army cause she doesn't have to. She'll send beta. And he won't leave like alpha did; he will take you." Lydia pressed, looking to kit at the last part.

"This beta, he their best?" Daryl asked, already pissed off at the thought of Kit being taken. Lydia nodded.

"Good, we'll kill him first." Daryl dismissed, retaking point, "Come on." Lydia looked at their backs, flabbergasted; they didn't understand how truly dangerous Beta could be.
