Journal Entry # 5 Saturday 2017

It's been seven months, and I thought I got Briar kind of figured out. We would barely talk at school; we'd never spend time together at recess that PE did sometimes, He'd always run off with his friends and leave me stranded, unsure what to do. We'd barely text and he'd rarely say 'I love you' through text, though it was never said aloud. And I'd always get ignored, sometimes months at a time. It was February, and I couldn't see anything wrong with our relationship.

Journal Entry # 6 Monday 2017

Then my birth month, August rolled around. Nothing out of the usual ignorance happened, especially on my birthday,- however we did go to the movies.. I tried to talk to him; now we were in seventh grade, and somehow got gym together again.

We were sitting on the ground, against the stacked up bleachers, waiting for our teacher, Coach Masshell. The big gym in this school was far bigger than at NorthEastern Intermediate School (NEIS). Briar had said he wouldn't be able to go to SkyNet Middle School (SNM), like me, but to the middle school next to NEIS, called YoungWeather Middle (YWM). YWM was our competition basically. I'm not sure how, or if he convinced his parents to move somehow, or maybe it was a work of God, but Briar was able to go to SNM because they moved closer to the school, and it was a little close to us.

I was lost in thought, sitting next to my boyfriend when someone came up to us. I didn't bother listening to what they were saying, but Briar stood up, and my imagination got away from me.

*

The guy standing in front of us was talking shit, and he waved a flat hand towards me. 'And who's this..' It wasn't a question. I stood up too. 'I'm his girlfriend.' I said. The kid frowned, and shook his head. He scanned us with his eyes, then he burst out laughing. 'You?' He laughed. 'Who the hell are you? Ms hero?' He waved his hands in the air above his head. 'Ooh, look at me, I'm the idiot dating the geek with glasses!' He looked around at his sitting friends. They cackled.

He turned back to us.

I frowned and stood strong. I started to open my mouth, when he interrupted. 'Ohh, and I bet you're such a nerd to have to drag him with you,' He said with an evil grin that made my blood boil. He got in my face. 'That I bet you're already planning you're stupid little future-' He jabbed my chest. '-with your stupid little family-' He did again. '- and your stupid little life.'  I was backed up against the bleacher wall. His hands were on the wall on either side of my head. Briar and everyone else was staring. I searched Briar's face, for something,-.. Anything,- .. but there was nothing. Not even sympathy. It was blank. 'Am I correct, little hero?'  The kid in my face asked.

His breath was terrible, like cut cabbage and onions mixed in the same pot. He smiled that evil grin again.

I blinked the scene away, gazing up at Briar and the kid. I stood up, and said that stupid intro. This time, this real time, he frowned, and sneered. "So what?" he said. He turned, shaking his head, and walked away. I looked at the Briar, blushing from embarrassment. He glanced at me, then sat down. I subtly looked into his eyes before sitting down too. They were dead blank.
