We walked through the double doors of the school. The cafeteria was loud with conversation and bopping music. Some lights were dim, and others were colorful. There was a glass disco ball on the ceiling, spinning reflected light refractions. I looked all around the Commons, eyes shimmering in amazement. All stairs were off limits, and taped off.
Near the food lines in the cafeteria, there was a long table that housed candy, pizza, and sodas; ran by volunteered parents. The pillars around the building's interior nearby were decorated with winding colored streamers. Under the stairs was a place to take pictures. There were dark purple and blue streamers twisting down to the ground, some gold streamers sprinkled in near the center of the display. Hanging in the middle in the air, were bubbly golden balloons strung together. 'HOCO,' it read.
I gasped and pulled Dallas along.
"Let's get a picture!" I said.
"Sure." He said.
I handed my phone to the lady standing by. We stood in front of the background and posed. I smiled a bit, only for the picture, but I was really only excited to be at Hoco at all. Dallas stood next to me and smiled as well.
I looked at the photo as I got my phone back. My smile fell. He looked cute, I had to admit. But I wasn't in to him like that.. He is just a friend.
