The Ten of Pentacles is what the Ace of Pentacles wants to be when it grows up. In this card, all the promise and possibility of the ace is manifested. Financial abundance and domestic security are there, of course. In addition, though, there is something more, a deeper gift. In some way, this abundance is connected to our roots, our past, or our ancestors as well as to our future and our legacy. It is said that the past is over and the future is yet to come, and therefore we should focus on the present, an idea also discussed in the Six of Cups. However, being able to look back with pride on past accomplishments and look ahead with confidence make the present even more wonderful.
The Universal Waite card has a young couple in the center, representing the present. The child represents the future, while the older man is the past. The dogs are faithfulness and loyalty. The pentacles, banners, and arch symbolize material achievement and prosperity.
Core meaning: Stable and abundant life.
The Legacy card shows the idea of a legacy, family money, or inheritance with the chest of coins and jewels. The tulips also symbolize wealth and prosperity. Unlike the coins and jewels, tulips are fragile and need tending and nurturing, much like a family and home.
In the Shadowscapes card, a young woman leans against a dragon, which symbolizes her inner strength and power. She holds a peach, representing the gifts she has been given. Partnering with her dragonself and using her gifts wisely, she has created her dream, the castle in the distance.
