"Huh ? I don't have a husband." His eyes became wide with shock," I can not believe man you again started. When SHE came to your life you completely stopped doing all these things but you again started. You even made her pregnant." He shook his head with a disappointed expression and disbelief. I smacked the back of his head,"shut up. You made a mistake in understanding." I dragged him away.
"What's wrong, man ?" He looked pissed. I explained everything to him about her. "What ? I couldn't believe how some idiot could leave her all alone ? If I was him, I could have taken her to my house and if she tried to act like a brat, I could have kidnapped her." He grinned lost in his dreamland.
"Do you have any idea what bullshit you are talking about ?" I gritted my teeth. I didn't like the way he gawked at her. "Leave it,bro. Just look at her, she is like an adorable angel. She looks so beautiful even being pregnant, wow." If he was a virtual character, he would have got hearts in his eyes.
"Stop dreaming. I am sure she will never be interested in you." He raised an eyebrow,"Are you jealous or something ?" My head snapped towards him,"Have you lost your mind somewhere ?" I fired out.
"Man, I was ju-" he was interrupted by my baby's sweet voice,"daddy..!" I turned my head and found Tara running to me whereas Kaira rushed behind her with a worried face. I held Tara so that Kaira would not trip or stumble while approaching us. As I thought earlier, she calmed down and slowly made her way to us. With careful steps. "Are you alright ?" I questioned Kaira and she looked stressed. She nodded with a smile.
"You can sit here." Rishab gave his seat to her. I too stood up and made Tara sit in the chair. "Kaira, you are alright ? Do you need water or something ? Are you comfortable ?" Rishab asked as if he was really concerned about her and her baby.
"She said she is good. Right ?"
Kaira confusingly gulped and bobbed her head.
"Great then." We stood there awkwardly. "Kaira, are you free,tomorrow ?" Rishab questioned breaking the awkward silence. He scratched the back of his neck. "Oh yea-" I cut her off,"No, she isn't free. She has a doctor's appointment."
"oh yeah..!" She hit her forehead. "No worries. I can come with you. If you are okay with it." He smirked. "No, I'll go with her." I blurted out. Kaira stared at me then looked at Rishab,"alright..! You can accompany me, I guess."she glared at me.
Hah..! Stupid me, after that incident of course she would never like to go with me anywhere. Damn, what I had got myself into ?!
"wow..great ! By the way, drinks ?" He asked. Dude, was he drunk or something ? "oh no." She cringed. "Once I tried a drink, I ended up in this situation. Not anymore." She rubbed her forehead, uneasily laughing.
"Well, you can have one cause if this time anything happens. I am all ready for another mistake," he smirked and winked at her. I clenched my fist. She let out a chuckle,"God, you're so fun, man."
Did she just- everyone is crazy here. She didn't understand he wasn't just flirting. I stomped away fuming in anger. My chest was burning with jealousy. I stopped a waiter and picked up a glass of alcohol. Was she doing all this to make me feel jealous ? Anger ? What did this woman actually want ?
I tried to avoid it and started talking with my business partners.
When I was really engrossed in my talk,I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned and found John,"What ?" He pointed at somewhere. I noticed Sitara. I rushed there, she was playing with a few children. "Baby, is everything alright ?" I asked and looked for Kaira, she was sitting in a chair with a scrunched face.
"Yes, daddy." Tara said. I ruffled her hair and went to Kaira. I sat in a chair near her,"Is everything okay ? Are you comfortable ?" She nodded but something was wrong for sure. "You don't look okay." Words slipped out of my tongue.
Her head snapped towards me. She stared blankly and looked away,"Nothing. You may enjoy the party. Don't waste your time with me, sitting here, bored."
"Kaira please. It's enough. I apologized, right ? Why do you need to behave in such a way ?" I stood up, furiously. She too got up,"That was an infantile mistake." She clenched her jaw. She sat back down. Her hands caressing her stomach. "I don't know where this tantrums are coming from, you are behaving like a five years old kid." I sighed and crouched to meet her level.
"Look. I am genuinely sorry. I do not apologize to everyone, understand ? Please, don't act like that. I never meant to hurt you." Her eyes went wide,"Y-You, get up first. People will see." She whispered looking down. "My feet are upset and I am not feeling nice." She stated, sadly. Her lower lip curled out as a pout.
"Do you want me to ride you home back ?" I queried. "Oh, no. Sitara is playing. Once she feels sleepy, we will leave. Let her enjoy." She glanced towards Tara. Could I just hold her hands and kiss the- shit. It went so far. I coughed. "So what ? Sakshi will bring her once she gets tired." I said. "Yeah, but then I won't feel good, leaving her alone." She huffed.
I chuckled,"As you wish. Wait, let me bring something for you." I went to the buffet and brought snacks for her. "Thanks," she grinned.
'Oh,my dear heart. Please do not burst, okay ?',I warned loudly in my mind.
A fear crept in my chest. 'Kaira will never turn out like HER, right ? She is good and cares about Tara but what if she's just pretending like HER.' SHIT. FUCK.
I stomped towards the bathroom. I closed the door with a 'THUD'. I looked at myself in the mirror and splashed water on my face. "Positive. Think positive, Devansh. Maybe, I am very eager, I-I should control myself.", I said to myself. And to my heart.
