CHAPTER 45: Coming Back

REECE'S POV

Dad has told me everything.

He and Grandpa explained the past to me and to the rest of the Ndrangheta mafia including Mancuso. Upon knowing the truth about the death of their parents, the El Trio had mixed reactions. They felt relieved, sad, in agony, all of it.

I now know everything of my past and all those short scenarios that was left wandering in my mind all these years was now put together like a solved puzzle. Everything is clear.

I met Caden way back before. Calvino too. Every single detail of it is now fresh in my memory as if it just happened yesterday.

I didn't thought that things were this complicated.

Sa iisang katawan lang nabubuhay ang kambal. Hindi ko lubos maisip na posibleng mangyari 'yon. Siguro 'yon ang naging eksplenasyon kung bakit naging malakas talaga ang kutob ko na kahit alam kong si Calvino ang kaharap ko, nararamdaman ko si Caden.

It was a shock, not just to me but to my cousins, Onyx, Lucas, and everyone. All of them couldn't believe it.

All of my why's were answered.

Two years ago, Dad didn't just pick some mere boy in the crowd and get him married to me. He didn't pick Caden just because he was merely different from the rest like what he answered to me before.

He chose Caden because Caden chosen me too

The diamond ring was the proof of it.

Nagkwento sa akin si Dad. Habang papauwi sakay ang sasakyan niya, dumaan sila sa parke at dahil sadyang napakaliit ng mundo, natagpuan niya si Caden na masayang kumakain ng hatdog doon.

Agaran niya itong namukhaan at doon na nagsimula ang lahat. Gumawa siya ng paraan para maisakatuparan upang sa gayon ay si Caden na mismo ang lumapit sakaniya.

At 'yon nga ang nangyari. Sa pamamagitan ng bahay ampunan, lumapit si Caden sakaniya, naganap ang pagpipirmahan ng kontrata at doon na nagsimula ang lahat.

I could comprehend all of those informations what my mind and heart couldn't accept is the truth that.. Caden can never come back.

He dissappeared and I could never be with him again. He is lost inside Calvino's head. What happened two years ago, the pain that I have caused him, was the reason he chose to not keep on living anymore. Once again, I blame myself.

"Hindi ako makapaniwala.." si Lucas ang biglang nagsalita.

Kasama si Onyx ay narito ako sa isang kwarto sa loob ng Buenavista Hospital. Hindi na nakaya ng katawan ko ang lahat ng nangyari kaya eto ako ngayon, nanghihina at bumabawi ng lakas.

"I never thought something like that could possibly happen.." boses ni Onyx.

Tanging matunog na buntonghininga lang ang nagawa ko at nanatiling tahimik. Kapwa sila tulala at pinoproseso lahat ng rebelasyon.

"Ang tanging alam ko lang noon ay  isang simpleng estudyante lang si Caden.. na walang ibang problema kundi kung saan makakaburaot ng hatdog.." dagdag ni Lucas. "Hindi ko lubos akalaing ganito pala ka komplikado ang buhay niya.."

"Yeah.." Dagdag ni Onyx.

Hindi ko na nakayang panoorin lang sila kaya nagsalita na ako.

"You two." napatingin sila sakin. "Don't act like nothing has ever between us. You ditched me." dagdag ko habang blanko ang mukha.

"You started it, Reece." si Onyx na umaarte pang maldito. "You wouldn't listen to us."

"Oo nga, boss." nguso ni Lucas. "Ayaw lang naman namin na mapahamak ka."
