Luke's POV
I was looking online for some horses and I saw a big paint horse. She was about 15 hands high and she had one partial blue eye. She wasn't broke and she was only $200. I called the man who had her and told him I wanted her.
Since I didn't have a horse trailer he brought her to me for an extra $50. She was halter broke and was such a long legged horse! Amber came out and saw her. "Luke! What are you doing now?" She asked. I smiled and said, "Surprise!"
She came off the porch and rubbed her hand down the horses neck. "What's her name?" Amber asked. I looked at the man and he said, "Cactus. Her name is Cactus."
I had a horse named Cactus in Leesburg! When the man left I took her to the barn. I let her adjust to the place before I let her out in the pasture. She acted like she has never seen a pasture. She got out there and just stared at all the green and the big pond. Then she took off. Her long legs stretched out and it made her look so fast! She threw her head up and ran as fast as she could around the pasture and I just watched. She finally came back to me and stopped. I rubbed her face and she was nibbling on my arm so I got her some horse feed. She actually looked lonely. I told Amber about how she needed a friend. Amber agreed and said, "Mules and donkeys are so much cheaper!" I laughed because she grew up with mules and donkeys. Of course I got a mule and a donkey! A medium brown mule that I named Molly and a cute, buckskin miniature donkey named Poncho. Cactus immediately started playing like a filly would.
Thomas and Sadie were starting to crawl and Thomas loved Poncho! He always wanted on his back and didn't want to come off. "I really hope this boy don't wanna be as stupid as I was!" I told Amber. She laughed and asked, "What do you mean?"
"Well when I was younger it was my dream to be a professional bull rider." I said. Amber laughed again. "I never saw you ride any calves when you were little." I looked at her. "Well yeah that's because I rode the goats, and I got my butt tore up too." I laughed. "My mama caught me riding one of the big billy goats and before she stopped me I was gone. The goat did not want me on him! He bucked and kicked. When my eight seconds was up I fell off and the goat was right behind me. Daddy came out and laughed his butt off. I ran across the pasture with a goat right on my tail. He finally caught up with me and he hooked his horn on my belt. The billy threw me up and I landed on my arm. I broke my arm but I still sneaked out there and got on that same billy" I said. Amber thought that was so funny. "Well let's just hope our son will be smarter." She joked. I raised one eyebrow. "Yeah, at least I didn't ride sheep in the rodeos." I said and she smiled. "At least I won first place at least eight times." We argued but it wasn't a bad argument. It was funny.
Thomas cried every time someone took him off of Poncho. We finally got him off but he still threw a fit. "Looks like we got a little cowboy."
