Luke's POV
I rushed around in pain trying to get Amber's present ready. I've already planned everything! She's out shopping and I got a babysitter for the twins. I put the table together in the barn and put the stools with saddles on them on each end. It was a short table so that we wouldn't be too far apart. It was starting to get dark so I lit the candles and put them down in front of the barn so it looked like a path. I put the tablecloth over the table and put one tall candle on it. I got Michael to get a chandelier too and I hung it high over the table. Of course I cleaned the barn out and made sure all the animals were out of it. Michael made the lasagna and when it came out I already had a slice cut for Amber with some Texas cheese bread and sweet tea.
I got a piece of paper and wrote a note down on it:
"Amber, as soon as you read this, get some blankets and follow the candles. The babies have a babysitter so they are fine.
-Luke"I taped it to the door so that she would see it.
Amber's POV
I was about two minutes away from the house and I couldn't wait to get back. I was shopping for so long.
I finally pulled up and I saw the red barn doors shut and a path of candles. I was so confused and then I saw a note on the door. I read it and did what it said. I brought the blankets out to the barn and followed the candles. I opened the door and saw Luke standing there holding a present. I looked around at the perfectly clean barn and the table. I didn't know what to say! "Cmon sit down... I know you want too." Luke said smiling at me. I laughed and saw the stools with saddles attached to them.
Luke sat me down and handed me a napkin and then he sat down. "This is the sweetest thing!" I said to Luke. He smiled and handed me a present. I opened it and then saw another note. It said:
"Follow the trail that I cut for you."Luke finished eating and waited on me to finish. When I got done he followed me and we walked for a while. Then I saw a pond, a radio, and of course... Luke's truck. He let the tailgate down and set the blankets in it. He turned the radio on country and pulled me out to dance. Of course the first song was a slow song. We danced for a while and it looked like,h Luke was waiting for something. Then I heard a familiar tune. Luke smiled from ear to ear as his new song played on the radio. I jumped into his arms and hugged him. "Congrats baby!" I said. He started to do a weird dance. I laughed and watched him. The song was called "All my Friends Say" and I loved it!
"I got smoke in my hair, my clothes thrown everywhere, woke up in my rocking chair, holding a beer in my hand. Sporting the neon tan." Luke sang along.
I was so happy for him and I knew our life was headed down the right track. We both laid down in his truck and just relaxed. This was the best birthday ever.
