I put my purse in the back seat and pulled out the garage. I stopped in the drive way to hook my phone up to the auxiliary cord. I turned on Marilyn Monroe by K Camp and pulled off. I was in my glory. After almost 20 mintues I pulled up to the University of Illinois. Every six months I get a routine check up. Safety first! My granny on my mom side always talked to me about being safe and getting check ups. Since I was 16 I was on birth control. Over the past two years I stopped because I was tired of all the extra weight I put on. I said I was going to try something different I just haven't had time. I parked the car and headed inside.

"Hi I have an appointment with Dr. Lewis."

"Ms. Brooks you can take a seat and she'll be with you soon. Have a nice day." I went and took a seat by the magazines and the first one I grabbed was about babies. A few minutes later a door opened and a girl walked in with a stroller with two kids in it and one holding her hand. I got up and held the door for her.

"Thank you!" She whispered lowly trying not to wake the baby sleep in the front of the stroller.

"Your welcome" I walked away and took my previous seat and continued to read the baby book until I heard my name being called.

"Ms. Brooks their ready for you." The lady behind the desk yelled out.

"Hey Dior, how you been feeling?" My doctor asked.

"I been great except I put on a few pounds to many."

"It's okay your still in great shape. It time for our usual routine. I need you to go pee in the cup and when you come back in the room remove your pants and put on the robe. I'll be back in ten minutes."

On my way here I made sure I drunk a bottle of water. I knew I was going to have to do a drop. After I was done taking my pants off I folded them neatly in the empty chair. I hated this part.

"Okay so I'm going to take this to the lab and I'll be right back to finish up with you." Dr. Lewis said closing the door behind her.

Over the next few minutes I stared out the window and wondered how life would be different if my parents were still here. Although I'm very blessed to have my grandparents its nothing like the bond you have with your parents. I heard my room door open and in walked my doctor causing me to snap out my thoughts and lean back on the table.

"Dior I recommend the gummy prenatal vitamins." The doctor said with a huge smile on her face.

"Excuse me?" I replied sitting up and looking at her like she was crazy.

"Dior your four and a half months pregnant."

"That can't be right I haven't had morning sickness or nothing. I've had a few periods like two or three months ago" I yelled out as of anything was going to change. It was time to face reality. I'm going to be somebody mom.

"You weren't having full periods your were just spotting. Your extremely small compare to other women. I would like for you to be back here for an emergency ultrasound. You need prenatal vitamins right away."

The rest of the time I was in the doctor office I couldn't help but think about how young I was and, how I have my whole life ahead of me. I fucked up.
