Lee propped a shoulder against the wall and watched as several of the Ancient scientists moved around the mirror. They murmured and nodded as one of the group messed with the control device.
Oliver appeared beside her. "Peterna told me we should be going home today."
"And you believe that? Look at them." She waved a hand at the group of scientists. "I don't think they're any closer now than they were when they began. We've been here forever."
"It's been six days, that's hardly forever."
"Maybe to you. You're used to sitting and staring quietly at things. I'm not. I need action. You, my dear brother, are an introvert, quite happy to sit alone in your apartment reading. If you didn't have to leave you wouldn't. While I am an extrovert, I crave crowds and action. If I stay inside all day I feel trapped. This nonsense is driving me insane."
"We're ready," one of the men called out.
"Finally!" Lee pushed away from the wall. "Where's Dr. Fritz?"
"I'm sure he'll be along soon. I left him trying to convince Peterna to allow him to have a set of instructions that would help him to build a ZPM, she wasn't very agreeable."
"We're not advanced enough to build them." Lee shrugged. "At least that's what they keep telling him."
Oliver sighed. "I feel bad for him, it's like his life's pursuit to build a ZPM."
Lee snorted. "It's my life's pursuit to fly a Puddle Jumper, I guess we all have to suffer."
"It's my life's pursuit to see you take something seriously." Oliver grinned at her.
"I hear that we are going home," Kiran said as he came into the room.
Oliver grinned at him as he came to a stop beside them. "Yes, sir."
"Are the three of you ready?" one of the scientists asked.
"Yes, we are, thank you, Ordell," Kiran said with a smile. "How do you know if you've found the correct reality?"
"We've made adjustments and we made certain to check everything over several times before we settled on this reality."
"And if it's wrong?" Lee asked.
He held out the control device. "Then you try again. Take this in case the mirror on the other end is missing the control device."
Kiran took the device and placed it in his pocket. He shook Ordell's hand. "Thank you, sir." He looked at Lee and Oliver. "Ready to go home?"
"Hell yes!"
He chuckled. "Then let's go, Captain." He stepped toward the mirror. Lee and Oliver followed. "Ready?"
"Yes, sir!" they chorused.
Together the three of them reached out and touched the mirror.
