Van took a seat across the table from Elias. "So ... uh ... why am I here?"

"You are here so I can investigate."

"Investigate?"

"Yes, Dr. Walsh. Now, let's get to it, shall we?"

Van nodded and clasped his hands together atop the table.

"We'll begin with your mission on P8E-394."

"Oh, that was a vastly interesting planet! It was post World War II level technology. I couldn't believe it, it was fascinating." Van smiled at him.

"Dr. Walsh, I'm not here to discuss the scenery. I have several questions about Colonel Hughes' command decisions."

"He makes very good decisions! I enjoy working with him!" Van replied enthusiastically.

Elias shook his head. "He led both you and Captain Kain into a war zone."

"It wasn't a war zone per say. They weren't actively fighting. We just went to see if we could negotiate peace between the two countries. It was interesting to say the least."

"You were captured by the Lucian Alliance."

"Yes, we were but I have to tell you the uniforms worn by the two warring cultures were very interesting considering the people were removed from Earth long before World War II, I find it very fascinating that they evolved to that level and that their uniforms—"

"Dr. Walsh, I need you to focus! The decision Colonel Hughes made put his team and the SGC in danger! If the Alliance had gotten a hold of your IDCs they could have taken over the SGC."

"That couldn't happen, not with the new implants. They're very fascinating little devices. You should read up on them if you're going to be investigating or whatever."

Elias slapped the folder shut and grabbed another. "Let's move on to the mission on P6W-971."

"The Naquadah mission." Van nodded. "We had a difficult time with that one but in the end we managed to escape with the Naquadah, it was quite a haul too."

"Again, Colonel Hughes put his team in danger and Captain Kain disobeyed a direct order to leave the Naquadah behind so all of you could escape."

Van scratched his head and frowned. "I didn't hear him give that order. I assume he would have done it over the radio. I think you're very mistaken."

"I am not."

"Have you read our reports? That should clear it all up!" Van told him cheerfully.

"I have read the reports and that is why I have these questions!" Elias shouted. "None of you are cooperating!"

"I thought I was cooperating. I've answered all your questions."

"You have danced around everything and you won't admit that Colonel Hughes has made questionable decisions on missions!"

"It's hard to admit to something that hasn't happened," Van answered.

"All right, what about the theft of the ZPM on P1N-035?"

"I don't recall a theft."

"You were right there when Vala Mal Doran smashed the glass case and they switched the dead ZPM for the live one," Elias yelled at him.

Van shook his head vigorously. "The case exploded on its own. I mean at least that's what we suspected. I wasn't actually looking at the case when the glass shattered. I was talking to Colonel Hughes and Captain Kain about all the fascinating things I'd seen at the museum! Oooh, you should get permission to visit the planet. You would not believe the artifacts housed there! Ancient technology mixed with simple tools from their ancestors."
