Several days had passed since their mission to P7B-732. Today was their first official briefing for a mission. Though they'd been shown the briefing room, this was the first time they were sitting around the table. The room sat above the control room where the Gate computers were, and off the briefing room was a door that allowed access to General Carter's office.
They all focused on General Carter as she took a seat at the head of the table. "Your mission today will be to P2S-183."
"Do we know anything about this one?" Mal asked her.
"We sent a probe through but that was as far as we went. The immediate area surrounding the Gate is empty." She lifted a small remote and hit a button. An image appeared on a screen on the wall. "The Gate sits on a small rise and overlooks a valley."
"So uninhabited?" Evander asked with a note of disappointment in his voice.
"Not necessarily. Many of the societies we have encountered didn't live close to the Gates. We believe it was a small defense against the Goa'uld. It gave the people time to vanish before they reached the cities."
Mal sat forward. "So there could be people on the planet?"
"It's possible. There is also this," she said and hit the button again. The next image was of something in the distance.
"And what is that?"
She clicked the remote again and the next image was much closer. "We think it's a structure of some sort, but it isn't clear enough to tell."
"Could be another outpost," Leonore said. "Maybe this one won't have a security system and an available, fully charged ZPM."
"That would be nice but I wouldn't count on it. Any questions?" Sam asked them.
"How long do we have to stay if there's no one there and nothing for Van to fangirl over?"
"Hey!" Evander sent Leonore a glare.
"You stay until the Colonel determines it isn't worth remaining. Dismissed."
They left the briefing room.
"Do you think we'll find anything?" Lee asked Mal.
He shrugged. "We'll know when we get there. Not every mission is going to net us something. Speaking of which, Van, what's happening with the stuff from the last mission?"
"I turned it over to Dr. Jackson, he's having a team go over it. He's hoping they can figure out where the ZPM is located."
"Well, I guess we earned our pay on that one. Let's try for a two for two."
Leonore laughed. "I think we earn it by simply stepping through that Gate."
"Probably true. Let's go."

Mal turned a circle. "Well, nothing dangerous so far."
"We stepped out of the Gate three seconds ago, what did you expect?" Lee asked him.
