Mal stopped and nearly turned around and left the briefing room, he hesitated a moment too long because General Carter spotted him.

"Take a seat, Colonel."

"Yes, ma'am." He reluctantly walked to the table and took a seat between Van and Lee, while directing a glare at his brother who sat across the table from him.

Elias smiled. "All right, now that everyone is here let's begin. In the file folders in front of you, you'll find the IOA's assessment of the Alliance threat. We have decided that this Nesrin who has taken charge is becoming too difficult to handle and we believe that it won't take long for her to become too powerful for us to rein in. Therefore, we believe we should neutralize the threat before it is out of control."

Mal laughed. "Does the IOA even realize exactly how much the Alliance now controls? How far their reach is? They murdered an entire village for stealing some Kassa to make extra money. The woman is insane. If we go after her and fail she'll turn her focus to wiping us from the face of this planet. Up until now, we've been a slight nuisance. If we get in her face and put her focus on us, she isn't going to give up until she exterminates us."

"You'll pardon me if I disagree, Colonel. The IOA has made its decision. If an opportunity arises that allows us to eliminate her as a threat then you are to take it."

"Oh, are we now?" He looked at General Carter. "You're going along with this?"

"I have little choice but to accept it, the President has already approved this course of action. My disapproval was noted but ultimately ignored. If an opportunity presents itself, trust me, Colonel, we will not simply run in. Things will be carefully planned and considered."

"If an opportunity arises to take any of the Alliance leadership out you will move immediately, the IOA and the President do not want anything to get in the way of this mission being completed," Elias told her.

Sam shook her head. "These are my people you're putting in danger, Mr. Albrecht, I won't throw them into the deep end without a floatation device."

Lee smirked. "Yeah, I'd kinda like some floaties, General."

"Agreed, Captain." Sam looked at Elias. "I'm sorry if you disagree, it doesn't matter how skilled my people are, without preparation they'll go in blind and die. SG-1 will head up any operation that goes after the Alliance."

"Against my better judgment," Elias grumbled.

"The President agrees with me on that point at least. SG-1 has had the most contact with this Nesrin woman and her people and they are the most skilled SG team here."

Elias stood. "As long as they take the opportunity when it arises then we have no problem, General." He stalked from the room, head held high.

"You know the more I get to know that guy, the more I hate him," Lee said.

"As soon as we have any information relating to the Alliance we'll worry about moving on them. Until then, continue with your regular mission schedule. How are you doing with the list of addresses from the Furling homeworld?"

"Most are either deserted or lightly populated. It appears as if, like the Asgards, the Furlings chose worlds to protect from the Goa'uld. A few of the worlds showed remnants of a previous civilization living there but we found no current residents on those worlds," Mal told her.

"I've made notations and handed everything off to Dr. Jackson for analysis. I think some of the worlds bear further investigation for any technology that might have been left behind by the Furlings to protect the people of the extinct civilizations on those planets," Van explained.
