Ch.42 The meeting of old friends

Hiruzen stared at the blonde with wide eyes. Without realizing it. This Tobi guy had Naruto's smile and looked exactly like Minato.

"Jiraiya had said his last name had been Uzumaki..." Hiruzen shook his head.

Naruto dropped his hand next to his side again and looked at Hiruzen for a response.

"Well ok. I guess it's a deal then." The Hokage rummaged through his desk and grabbed 4 leaf village branded headband. 2 of them black and the other 2 the signature dark blue. Naruto reached out and grabbed them. "I will get it to them. Though... Sasuke might not wear his." Hiruzen nodded. "That's alright, as long as he is in on the deal then I have no issues with what you do with the headbands."

Obito stared blankly into nothing. It was finally occuring to him. "Four?" Naruto realized that he had been indeed handed four headbands.

Hiruzen laughed slightly. "Ones for you Obito." Obito's eyes widened. "Ah. R-right." Naruto handed him a black colored headband. Naruto gave an encouraging smile.

Obito put it in his pocket. "I'll put it on later." Hiruzen nodded and smiled. "I'm glad your back Obito." Jiraiya smiled at Obito as well.

"Yea it is good to have you back." Naruto sad before patting Obito's back. "Let's go." Obito nodded and followed Naruto out of the Hokage's office.

Hiruzen's smile slightly faltered. "Obito will not be the boy we once knew. Not anymore." Jiraiya's eyes narrowed. If Obito truly had been the one to kill all of those enemy Ninja... His hands were soaked in blood. Something Minato tried desperately to protect them from.

Naruto walked out of the building silently Obito trailed behind him.

"I didn't think that would have been his deal honestly." Naruto finally said as they exited the Hokage building. Obito nodded. "I thought they were going to exile you three honestly." Naruto nodded slowly. "Yea and that would have sucked."

"Let's go to Shikaku's house quickly." Obito raised an eyebrow. "How do you know they are there?" Naruto grinned. "I'd say I'm pretty good at sensory." Obito nodded. "Probably the best in a couple generations." Naruto chuckled at the compliment. They walked silently most of the way back. Neither of them really felt like running despite being in pretty good physical condition. The time spent in the Hokage's office, Naruto and Obito had more than a couple mini heart attacks.

They were almost at the Nara compound before being stopped by Asuma and guy.

Naruto raised an eyebrow. "Can I help you?" Guy nodded. "We have nothing against you. But we want to know what you have to do with Kakashi." Guy crossed his arms making it clear he wasn't going to move till he got his answer.

Naruto's eyes softened. Obito looked slightly panicked but Asuma payed no notice.

"I am Kakashi's friend. I'm sorry that I made you worry for him." Asuma seemed slightly taken aback by Naruto's apology. "Sorry? What about your Nara friend?" Naruto raised an eyebrow.

"Did he do something?" Asuma nodded and so did guy. "We were going after Kakashi and he came and stopped us. Knocking Guy out and hurting the two sensory ninjas that were with us." Naruto nodded.

"This must have been when we were first going after Obito." Naruto looked at Asuma and Guy. "I'm sorry that happened. My friend must have stopped you when he realized you were following us." Guy looked at the blonde surprisingly he nodded.

"He had quite the skills. He knocked me out right off the bat. He must have known I was a Taijustu user. And as I was told he used the Nara clans secret Justu. A terrible matchup." Naruto was surprised by Guys sudden admiration for Shikamaru. Asuma on the other hand seemed annoyed.

"He had no business stopping us." As he said this he looked over at Obito. "Who is this anyway? Another one of your strange friend's?" Guy nodded. "I too am curious." Obito stared blankly at his old friend's.

"Well actually..." Naruto uncrossed his arms and looked at the impatient looks of Asuma and Guy. "This is your old friend. Not my own. In a way... We had met rather recently." Naruto shrugged.

"What are you talking about?" Asuma asked clearly unamused. "This was who we were after the day you guys followed us and all that." Naruto said as he looked at Obito.

Obito seemed nervous but nothing more. "Hi." Obito finally spoke. Guy looked over at Obito. Guy stared hard at Obito. "I recognize your voice! Have I met you by any chance?" Obito nodded.

"I am Obito. From when we were still in the academy. That is when we met." Guy stood still and so did Asuma.

Guys eyes widened. They were finally looking over Obito's appearance. They both quickly realized that without the scar Obito would look exactly like, well, Obito.

"Your not dead?" Asuma finally said. He wanted an explanation. "I am not. I was taken, after the cave fully collapsed. I was imprisoned for a year or 2." Naruto listened to the conversation.

"Taken! Who would have done that." Guy asked grabbing Obito's arm. Obito stayed quiet. Asuma nodded. "It's fine that you would rather not tell us." Asuma looked at Obito. "Thank you for the understanding." Guy and Asuma flinched slightly.

Why did Obito... Seem so, formal now?

"Would you like to stay and catch up Obito? Or come with me?" Asuma gave Naruto a dirty look. "I will come with you." Obito responded. Guy looked seemingly shaken. Obito smiled slightly. "I will return to you two later. Don't worry." Asuma and guy stayed still as Naruto and Guy walked away. Obito gave a weak smile before fully turning around. Why was Obito being so polite? They both remembered him being loud and always deeming himself the future Hokage and initiating challenges with everyone. But now? They watched Obito and Naruto turn the corner and out of view. Now... Obito was quite and reserved, polite and shy. Asuma and guy were worried. They had just found out their old friend was alive and now he seemed so different. "How long did Kakashi know before we did?" Asuma finally asked to no one. Guys eyes narrowed. "No wonder Kakashi seemed so off lately."
