Venti's POV
"Hello, Madam Ping!"
"Good morning, Lord Barbatos. Aren't you quite early?"
"I have a lot to catch up on and I don't even have Xiao to help me out this time so it's better to start early, I hope you don't mind."
"Oh nothing of the sort, you have no need to worry. Morax was also here just a little earlier."
"Will it be okay with both of them here?"
"It's not my first time taking care of children. Sometimes I even had to watch over ten of them, so two is no problem." She laughed, taking Xiao from my arms.
Xiao obviously didn't like the idea of staying behind, clinging onto my clothes as best as he could.
"Xiao Xiao, I'll need you to stay with Madam Ping for a while, okay? I'll come to pick you up as soon as I finish my things."
After some coaxing, he finally let go of my clothes and I left as fast as I could so I could come back as early as possible.
I really hope those two won't fight like when they are grown up...
Madam Ping's POV
I took Xiao from Barbatos' hands, watching him hurry away, before letting Xiao sit down in the grass next to Childe. Sitting down across the two children a finally decided to speak.
"So, how long are you two going to keep up the act? It might work before Morax and Barbatos, but I've taken care of more than enough children to know how they act."
After I said this, I saw the innocent-looking smiles disappear from their faces, Xiao going back to his usual stoic expression and Childe flashing a grin.
"As expected. An act like that would only fool those two old gods."
"You make it sound like you actually need to act to fool them."
"That's true. I reckon even if we started speaking out of nowhere, they wouldn't suspect a thing."
Looking at the two I couldn't help remark:
"How surprising to see you two talk without starting a fight."
"We have an agreement," Xiao grunted.
"But only till the end of the one-month period," Childe added.
These two... never change, do they?
"Sigh. As long as you're in here, you can do whatever you want, just don't break anything. You two can walk, can't you?"
"Of course."
"Naturally."
"Off you go then, just don't go to the south side of the domain, I still have some slimes over there..."
Before I could finish, Childe had already run off, right to the south.
"He'll be fine. He's small, not weak." Xiao remarked before I could go after him.
"High praise from someone like you. Does he know you judge him so highly?"
"That's none of his business."
"Same as always. Will you ever accept him?" It's been quite long after all.
"I'll accept him when I find him worth accepting."
That conversation ended rather quickly.
"So, Xiao, it's quite unlike you to stay behind to chat with an old woman like me. Tell me, what's on your mind?"
