Venti's POV
Just a little longer and you'll be free.
I looked up at the tree before taking out the jade box.
"Hello again, it's been a while."
My gnosis pulsed in my hand as I held it, waiting to be used.
"Wait for me just a little longer, my dear Xiao."
The Tsaritsa's POV
Barbatos gently lowered the yaksha into the grass below the tree and took out his gnosis.
That yaksha... He seems to be in a worse condition than I thought.
He was curled up, shaking in pain.
This looks like... Karmic debt!
But, how does Barbatos intend to solve this?
There was a reason why all the yakshas died. Even morax couldn't do anything about karmic debt, he could only watch them die, one by one.
With gnosis in hand, Barbatos walked up to the tree, pushing the gnosis into it. The next moment, his body dissolved into specks of light, going into the tree along with his gnosis.
The tree began to glow and soon after, a white figure appeared before it.
"Barbatos." I couldn't help but mutter.
That was hit true form. Or the one he used as an archon, at least.
White wings, white clothes, and anemo markings tracing his exposed skin.
"This is rare."
It's rare to see an archon in their actual body in these times. Even I only use a substitute.
He kneeled down and took the yaksha into his arms. He bent down, gently placing a kiss on his forehead, muttering something I couldn't hear, before kissing him deeply on the lips.
I had no idea what he was doing until I saw the base of his wings turn black.
Don't tell me he's...
Venti's POV
It's been a while since I have been like this, since I've been in this body.
Well, it's not like I missed it. Nothing good happened when I did use it.
Never mind, that's not important now.
I kneeled down in front of Xiao, taking him into my arms. I bent down placing a kiss on his forehead as gently as I could.
"I love you, Xiao. Please wait for me."
I leaned in and placed my lips on his, pulling him into a deep kiss.
There's only one way to remove his karmic debt. That is also the reason why Istaroth told me that I would probably need to sleep for Celestia knows how long even if I didn't die.
Even if I use all my power, there's no way to simply evaporate karmic debt. Once it leaves his body, it needs to go somewhere. I cannot let it go into the wild. That would make all his work and suffering over the years amount to nothing. So the only other way...
Transferring his karmic debt into my own body instead, letting my powers as a god slowly get rid of it.
As a god, my body is a lot stronger than Xiao's and it could take a lot more damage as well. Over time, my own powers would work to fully get rid of the karmic debt, but this could take hundreds, if not thousands of years.
