I completely forgot about this one! The side story for 90k reads albeit a bit late.
Childe's POV
"So Xiao, hypothetically, if Venti and Zhonlgi got into a fight, whose side would you stand on?"
Instantly, silence filled the room.
While Xiao looked completely stunned by the question, Zhongli and Venti were both sending quite intense glares at me.
Suddenly, Venti stood up.
"Hey Morax, about that osthamus wine of yours. I seem to have found a bottle for you."
"Barbatos-"
"Come with me."
And with that, he dragged Zhongli out of the room.
"You ruined the mood." Xiao spoke up after they were gone.
"I did, didn't I?"
"Completly."
Silence.
"So... Whose side would it be?"
Xiao put down his tea and looked at me with the most judgemental look I've ever received in my life.
"If you don't want to say it then don't-"
"Venti's. Naturally."
Wow...
"That was fast."
"Did you expect me to hesitate?"
"Yeah."
I somewhat did, actually.
After all, you did serve under Zhongli for thousands of years.
"Childe."
"Yes?"
"If it came to a fight so bad between those two that I would have to choose a side, it would come to war. In war, you don't hesitate."
It was then that I realized that the one speaking right now, wasn't the Xiao that was all nice and cuddly with Venti, but rather the General Alatus, that was feared on the battlefield.
Gulp.
"Did I frighten you?"
And he was back to Xiao.
"Not at all."
Just a bit.
Just a tiny bit.
"You deserve it." He scoffed.
This damn guy...
How I would love to punch-
"If you want to punch me, I suggest you get Morax back here first, as I will not hesitate to return said punch."
Tsk!
Damn yaksha!
"So, Childe. Since we're asking unnecessarily uncomfortable questions, how about I turn that right back at you? Who would you choose between Morax and the cryo archon?"
What kind of nonsensical question is that?
"Of course, I would-"
"Be extremely careful of what you're going to say next, Childe. I don't think I have to remind you that Morax isn't here."
