~Bryony~

I got home the same way I left Sebastian's, slamming the door. The walk home wasn't enough to calm me down, twenty minutes of walking and the only sentence my mind could form was 'fucking arrogant vampire' . As if it wasn't enough to have to stand how all those vampires Sebastian lived with watched me as if I was just a teenager with a tantrum and they were used to those shows early in the morning, I couldn't use my speed to get home faster and I ended up walking around the whole town wearing a dress on over a T-shirt.

Great, because people didn't think I was already I weirdo and a nerd... I swear I will beat that vampire's ass if someone has seen me.

My bad temper was interrupted by the last person I would have imagined. My father.

Night shifts, I probably woke him up with the door slamming, I scolded myself.

"What are you wearing Bryony? I thought you were staying at Olive's." My father was still wearing his pajamas and he rubbed his eyes.

He stopped being sleepy when he realized the T-shirt I was wearing under my dress was suspicious big and had male cut.

Joshua Smith, my biological father, the only father I have known. I have always liked my parents, the alive me loved them, the death me... Well, my way of seeing the world has changed dramatically since I had to start creating the illusion of a beating heart I didn't owned anymore. Now people like my family moved to... the background.

My father has never been of those super strict ones who forbidden their daughters to see any boy. He used to behave cool when I dated Jason, sure he didn't enjoy the idea much, like all father but Jason... he had a golden heart that made people fall in love with him, he illuminated every room, he illuminated me, not anymore.

Do not waste thoughts, I forced myself to focus. Luckily, fake you are alive gives you the ability to make up very credible excuses.

"Oh the T-shirt?" I played naive. "I forgot to bring any pajamas so I kidnapped one of Eros's T-shirt... I'm even wearing some borrowed shorts from Olive." I added.

"Okay." He yawned. "The next time you want to go on a walk this early on a Saturday think about it twice, I could have picked you up."

My father kissed my forehead and headed to the kitchen, to have the coffee I delayed due to my unexpected arrival. I also continued my way to my room.

My first instinct when I got to my room was flopping onto the bed and bury myself between the sheets but hygiene comes first, I needed to get rid of the T-shirt I kidnapped from Sebastian and take out the mixture of smells between alcohol and testosterone. I was lucky my father's smell sense was asleep too.

With the water at the perfect temperature, I got ready to enter the shower. I took off the dress but I stopped when I was about to take off Sebastian's T-shirt, I couldn't help smelling it for barely two seconds.

How thoughtful, he gave me a clean T-shirt.

I entered my room again, this time with a towel. I got dressed with some jeans and a white baggy T-shirt, I got startled —just a little— when I heard an evil chuckle behind me.

"You have three seconds before I make you disappear." I told the mirror, talking to the ghost in it.

"Don't pretend to be surprised..." Jason's arrogance showed right on time. I lived surrounded by arrogant vampires. "I'm just making your pathetic fantasies of your dead lover coming true." He emphasized the word 'dead'. "Or almost." He added realizing the difference between my 'fantasies' and an evil copy of my boyfriend taking over my mirror.
