Chapter 18

- Overdose -

After a quick run that seemed interminable Audrey arrives in front of Wolfe's house, she instinctively knocks violently on the door with a closed fist, after a few seconds Destiny arrives to open the door and she almost gets punched since the other one seemed to be doing the action almost in trance.

"Audrey? What happened to you!?"
The girl says nothing and throws herself into the wolf's arms holding her tight, the girl lets her in and closes the door, they both head to her room.

"Shhh quiet, I'm here now"
Says Destiny whispering softly as she strokes the girl's hair in her arms

"do you want to tell me what happened?"
Destiny asks cautiously hoping to get some clarity, Audrey nods her head slightly, settles down by sitting next to the other and begins to tell in a still trembling voice.

Destiny listens attentively to every single word that comes out of the other's lips, the more she continued with the story the more Audrey struggled to find the words, Destiny tried to give her strength by stroking her hand, trying to hide however the anger she is feeling right now at hearing those words. Audrey finishes the story, Destiny continues to caress her hand not knowing exactly what to say, she is afraid of not being able to make her feel good again, in fact she is terrified of saying something wrong and making the situation worse.

"You've been fighting for a long time, haven't you?"
Wolf asks

"yes... Since middle school"

"you know you're not alone anymore?"

"yes"

"Nathan and I are here for you"

"I know"

"And I'm sure your mother didn't mean to hurt you"

"I know"

"You should go to her"

Audrey doesn't seem convinced.

"Do you want to stay here a little longer?"
Audrey nods

"come here baby"
Destiny wraps her little sister in a sweet embrace stroking her hair just as gently, Audrey seems to feel better, she calms down and falls asleep in the arms of the wolf who continued to watch over her until she woke up.

"So I'll see you tomorrow"

"yes"

"I am there and I will always be there for you don't forget that.... You don't have to fight alone anymore"

"thanks big sis"

Destiny smiles at the girl in front of her as she crosses the threshold and heads home, the wolf continues to watch her until she was too far away to see her and then goes back into the house.

Audrey arrives in front of the front door of the house, she is left pondering what to do for a few minutes but finally she musters up the courage and goes inside

"Audrey!"
The mother throws herself on her tearful daughter hugging her tightly

"I'm sorry... I'm really sorry my baby"
She says between sobs

"Mommy..."
Audrey starts crying again too, her father is not back yet so the two of them indulge in a mother-daughter moment, Audrey reveals to her mother all she has been through since middle school, the woman would have never imagined that her daughter had endured all that pain alone and that it was continuing even now.

"My darling, you don't have to keep these things inside anymore, do you understand? Your father and I are here for you, you can tell us everything"

Audrey nodded and hugged her mother again, knowing that her family and friends are ready to give her so much love cheered her up, now she went up to her room to lie on her bed and immerse herself again in her world which is still the safest place there is.
