Chapter 20

- In my thoughts -

It's the first day of school closing, needless to say Audrey, Destiny and Nathan are still sleeping like logs despite it being late 10am.

"Destiny"

"..."

"Destiny!"

"Hmm?"

"come on it's time to get up don't plan on lounging in bed all day"
Her mother says the whole thing taking off the blanket and opening the window letting the blinding sunshine into the now perfectly lit room

"ohh you're crazy this is violence!"
The wolf noisily protests not realizing she is on the edge of the bed, she is unable to balance herself in time and falls, triggering a roaring laugh from her mother.

After having had breakfast and said good morning to her father, Destiny gets ready by putting on a simple sweatshirt and sweatpants

"what are you wearing?"
Her mother says incredulously when she sees her coming out of the bathroom

"you said I can't lounge in bed, not that I can't lounge in the house"
Rebuts the girl ready

"one point for the wolf"
Says smiling the father amused by the two, also tease his wife every now and then does not mind

"dear you're supposed to be on my side"

"I'm sorry mom, dad made his choice"
Destiny says victoriously sticking her tongue out at her

"then you make your own lunch"

"Destiny you can cook right?"
The father asks the girl who looks at him crookedly

"On second thought, dad is all yours"
Says the girl realizing that in the end the only one who would lose out would be her

"Anyway all kidding aside try to do something productive ok?"
The mother still hopes her daughter isn't really going to do nothing all day long

"Yes yes don't worry I'll figure something out"
Destiny goes up to her room, decides to take advantage of some homework, not because she is a studious person, quite the opposite in fact, she simply follows the reasoning of "the sooner I do it the sooner I can mind my own business". After an hour or so the wolf has completed her task, she goes back down to the kitchen where her mother is preparing lunch.

"No burnt chicken today?"
Says the girl with a fake sad expression

"ha ha very funny, rather help me cut the tomatoes"

"alright"
The wolf takes the cutting board and knife and starts cutting the red fruit

"Good thing dad got a job"

"Yeah, it's been a godsend"

"Let's hope it lasts longer than the other one"

"Hopefully"

In the meantime Mr. Wolfe has changed several jobs, he knew very well that most of them were temporary but he would not have expected to be even hired and then fired on the same day as happened before, he had even asked his friend pizza maker but he could not help him since he already struggles to pay the employees he has and could not afford another one and could not even fire another one to take him, so Destiny's father had to roll up his sleeves. Now he works at a small grocery store in the area, he mainly arranges the products on the shelves, sometimes they put him on the cash register due to lack of staff, he doesn't make much money but it's better than nothing. The two women of the house have finished preparing, the father has the afternoon shift so he can enjoy lunch with his family

"so how is school going?"
Asks curiously the man who in the meantime had remained a little behind on the school situation of his daughter

"I did some homework first so that Miss Doubtfire can't tell me I didn't do anything"
The girl smiles and points at her mother

"one day you will thank me for being so persistent"
The woman says getting up to clear the table making the two left laugh.

It's 4pm Destiny's father has just left the house, her mother is resting in the living room watching something on TV, while Destiny is back in her room messing around on Instagram.

Scrolling through the posts at a certain point she sees the bar of suggested profiles, out of curiosity she starts scrolling through them not finding any to her liking, just when she was about to give up she sees a profile that immediately attracts her attention ~ Jennifer Diamond ~ how could she forget the name of the goddess who on that stage almost stole her heart. Her finger moves as if on its own and she clicks on the profile, it's public and the girl doesn't miss the chance to take a peek at the photos, some are as normal as any, some are definitely shameless in the wolf's opinion, like the one where she's sitting inside a bright red Ferrari, some are a bit spicy but leave the rest to the imagination and some that Destiny finds really cute.

"You just won't leave me alone will you?"
She says, amused by the randomness that Destiny continues to create. (Really bad pune)

"beautiful and rich... If I were her girlfriend I wouldn't have any problems"
She says to herself

"Well, it's worth a try, isn't it?"
The girl begins to follow the queen bee sure that she will take the bait, since she had already noticed that the goddess had some interest in her.

• Destiny Wolfe has started following you

This is the notification that the queen bee finds on her phone after returning from an outing with her and Zoe's group. The girl, as usual, checks the profile of the person in question, she is aware that having the public profile anyone can follow her but she still wants to know who follows her and eventually block them, but this is not the case, indeed when she sees the photos of the girl she almost gets a shock so much that she has to sit on the bed.

"I can't believe it's... It's  that girl"

The queen bee lately had been very taken by the news that Gwen had given her, about Ace being in love with her, but despite that the girl who never took her eyes off her during the race, who had saved her from a trauma that would accompany her for the rest of her life continued to be a constant thought of hers. At first she thought it would be easier if Ace was really in love with her, so she could forget about that girl who was so irresistible, but after the days of keeping an eye on the boy she realized that what Gwen had said was really a figment of her imagination.

"The decadent part of town.... If I go there maybe... Maybe I'd get to see her"

That's what the two girls think in unison, Destiny because she's sure the queen bee couldn't help but continue her game of seduction, Jennifer because she's increasingly convinced that Destiny is the adventure she's always wanted.
