Jungkook fiddled nervously with the ring box sitting in his pocket as the two of you walked side by side. He had been planning this for two months. He practiced what he would say, where he would take you, even what he would wear. He had it all planned out from start to finish, so why was he nervous?
That was a stupid question. He was going to propose, of course he would be nervous. It didn't matter how much he rehearsed. The nerves would still be there.
What if you said no?
Then again, how could you say no? He can see how much you love him just by looking into your eyes. He sees the way they gleam and glisten with adoration. But still, what if you said no? What if you just didn't feel ready? Was his timing bad? Should he bail?

"Jungkook?" Your voice pulled him away from his worries.
"Yes?"
"You okay? You were zoned out again."
"I'm fine." He let out a breathy chuckle. "Did you say something?"
"I was just talking about how nice this place is."
"Oh. It is." He nodded, glancing up at the lights strung along the pergola that was set up over an outdoor dining area. "You know what else looks nice?"
"What?"
"You."
The sudden compliment had you glancing at your lap shyly. "You're so cheesy." You muttered.
"Yet I have you a blushing mess." He grinned.
You had to fight back a smile. He was right.
"It was really nice of you to take me out tonight. I've never been to a place as high-class as this one."
You'd only ever been to casual dining restaurants, never ones where you had to dress up. This was very different from what you were used to, but at the same time, you were flattered that Jungkook wanted to take you to a place such as this one. You've never been the type of person who enjoys the finer things in life. You've always been a simple person to please; no high-priced diamond jewelry, no yachts and caviar. A trip to the movies or the amusement park was enough for you. Despite that, being out tonight, all dolled up in a fancy restaurant was a nice change and something you didn't think you'd enjoy. You could definitely see yourself coming here for an anniversary or some sort of special occasion.

Jungkook watched your from across the table and took a sip of his wine, hoping the alcohol would calm him a bit. You'd both already ordered your entrees, but Jungkook wasn't sure he could even eat. His insides were a mess thanks to his high anxiety. His foot bounced restlessly as he waited for the right moment to pop the question. His heart was thumping so loudly in his chest that he wondered if you could hear it. Proposing before your meals arrived was probably a bad idea because what if you said no? The rest of dinner would be awkward. Then again, if you said yes, he could relax and enjoy his food. He was beginning to go into overthinking mode and knew he needed to stop before it got worse.
Thankfully, a distraction made itself available as he spotted your table's waiter heading over with your meals. For just a moment, Jungkook's worries were pushed to the back of his mind.

"This looks and smells amazing." You commented, staring wide-eyed at the food before you. "You know, this place seemed so fancy I thought they served one tiny piece of food for an insane price, but the portions are surprisingly decent."
"I did my research on this place." Jungkook commented, smoothing out his dress shirt. "I'd never take you out to a restaurant that serves tiny amounts of food just for the sake of being fancy. We're here to eat."
"Yes we are." You grinned, rubbing your hands together with anticipation.
Dinner was almost silent, neither of you speaking as you enjoyed your meals. The only thing being said was praises on how good the food was. Thankfully, Jungkook was able to stomach his food and enjoy it without feeling nervous. Seeing how laid back you were put some of his anxiety at ease, that is, until you'd both finished your entrees.

Now that your plates were empty, Jungkook realized he was running out of time.
"Are you in the mood for dessert?" He asked, hoping to buy himself more time.
"Sure, but just something small."
He breathed an internal sigh of relief and started perusing the short dessert menu propped on the table. It didn't take long for you both to decide on something to help top off your night out.
After your dishes were cleared from the table and the dessert order was placed, Jungkook was left with his thoughts once more.
Proposing during dessert? He wondered. That could be romantic.
His hand unconsciously reached into his pocket, checking that the ring was still there. He spent the wait for your dessert fiddling with the ring box and making conversation with you in an attempt to ease his nerves.
When Jungkook spotted your waiter with your dessert, his heart rate tripled. The sweet treat was placed on the table and the waiter walked off, leaving both you and Jungkook.
"This looks so good." You commented, going to grab your fork.
"Wait." Jungkook stopped you.
It's now or never. He thought.
You, not knowing what was about to happen, looked over at him, waiting for him to continue.
"There's something I want to tell you."
"Okay." You nodded, giving your attention to him.
"We've been dating for five years now, which is quite some time."
Your heart jumped. You knew where this was going.
"We've been through a lot and we've managed to keep our relationship going strong for all these years." He paused. "I'm not gonna keep dragging this out, but I want you to know that I love you so much and I'm so glad I got to spend these last five years with you."
Your breath hitched as you saw him reach into his pocket, getting out of his seat. Your wide eyes followed him as he knelt down before you.
"I'd love to spend even longer with you. Will you marry me, Y/n?"
Everything disappeared. The other people dining outside on the patio didn't matter. It was just you and Jungkook. You knew something was off since he brought you to such a nice place, but you never would have guessed it was for a proposal.
You could see Jungkook's hands trembling as he held the box out, a stunning engagement ring sitting inside.
"Yes." You finally answered. "Yes a million times!"
You held out your hand as Jungkook plucked the ring from the box and slid it onto your finger, both your hands shaking.
You glanced at the new jewelry adorning your finger before embracing Jungkook in a hug, pulling away to give him a long kiss.
The people seated around you clapped, some congratulating you as you both sat back down at the table.

"You think my timing was good?" Jungkook asked.
"Absolutely." You nodded, reaching for your fork. "This dessert almost seems celebratory now."
As the both of you ate your sweet treat, your waiter approached your table, grabbing your attention.
"We saw your proposal and our manager would like to comp your dessert as a way to say congratulations."
Your jaw dropped. "That's so nice of them."
"Yes. Please tell your manager thank you." Jungkook added.
The waiter nodded and left to get the receipt.
"This night just keeps getting better." You smiled.
"Just wait until we get home. I've got a movie night planned. Just you and me cuddled together in bed and any movie or movies you want to watch."
"Are you serious?"
"Yes." He chuckled.
"Taking me out to this beautiful restaurant was enough."
"I know, but I think topping off the night with movies in bed is perfect."
You couldn't lie, it did sound appealing. You enjoyed dressing up sometimes, but at the moment, you couldn't wait to get home and get into some fluffy pajama pants and a t-shirt.

After dinner was paid for, you and Jungkook headed home where you were finally able to put on some comfortable clothes, remove your makeup, and relax. The night was spent cuddled into Jungkook's side as you watched movies well past midnight and you wouldn't have had it any other way.

Reminder: requests are CLOSED and have been since August 11, 2022. Some people seem to be confused by new chapters being titled [request].
These chapters are requests that were submitted BEFORE requests were closed. They are not new requests.

Also, if the book title says [REQUESTS CLOSED], don't request. And especially don't tell me you know the title says requests closed and request anyway... that's incredibly agitating and disrespectful. I put that in the title so I wouldn't have to deal with people requesting when requests are closed and even that isn't working.
It means exactly what it says. Requests are CLOSED.
