"Is that a new bracelet?" You asked Yoongi, gesturing to the silver chain clasped onto his wrist.
He gave it a brief glance. "Yeah."
"It's nice."
He made somewhat of a grunting sound in response which you decided to take as a thank you.
You wouldn't call Yoongi a friend, he was more of an acquaintance. He didn't talk all that often, only offering a few short responses or grunts, but you hoped to get through to him one of these days. Sometimes you got lucky and were able to have a brief conversation with him.

The two of you met because you share three out of four college classes together. Not only that, but you both work part-time at the campus cafe. That's where the two of you were currently headed. Your shift started in ten minutes and lasted four hours. It didn't pay too much, but it put some extra cash in your pocket, which was helpful.
Once at the student center, you made your way to a side room with glass windows and doors, inside was a small cafe. There were coffee machines for making the drinks and a few pre-packaged sweets at the register.
You and Yoongi moved behind the counter and grabbed your aprons, sliding them on.
"Another day another dollar, huh?" You huffed out with a smile.
"Yep."

Work days always started off a bit slow at the cafe. It took a little while for customers to start flowing in, which you were perfectly content with. You enjoyed Yoongi's company and liked talking to him, even if he didn't supply many responses. His personality is a bit cold, but not in a disrespectful way, he just has a certain way of addressing people. He was also a bit closed off, but you hoped to change that.
You made yourself busy straightening the stacks of foam cups and readjusting the signs by the register.
Meanwhile, Yoongi sat off to the side watching you move about the small space behind the counter. He could hear you muttering to yourself.
"No, that's not right. Maybe put it like this."
The corner of his mouth twitched slightly as he listened to you talking to yourself. Yoongi would never admit it, but he liked spending time around you. Though he never acted like it, your company was nice and he enjoyed it. That's why he willingly hung out with you or sat with you during class.

It wasn't too long before your first customer came in; a young student who glanced around the room, seeming unfamiliar with her surroundings.
"Hello." You greeted.
"Hi."
"What can I get for you?"
"I'm not sure. This is my first time here."
"That's alright. Take your time. We have lots of coffee to choose from. We even serve a couple kinds of tea. There's sweets there." You pointed to the small display case filled with pre-packaged baked goodies.
"Thank you." She gave you a warm smile before stepping back to read the menu and peruse the selection of baked goods.
You turned to Yoongi who was seated in a chair behind the counter, arms crossed over his chest and his head resting on the wall behind him, looking relaxed as usual. You usually switched off between customers so you'd both be working about the same amount. You take one customer, he take the next and just keep switching from there.
"Excuse me." The young student called.
"Yes?"
"I think I'll have a medium iced caramel macchiato."
"Alright. I'll get that for you."
The wait was short, just a couple minutes and you had her drink ready. After she paid, you wished her a good day and watched her walk out.

As your work day went on, you and Yoongi catered to the customers that stopped by the cafe. Your shifts were ending soon and you were preparing one of the last orders of the day, a black coffee for one of your classmates. He was someone you weren't friends with, but you spoke sometimes and he was always really friendly.
"Here's your coffee." You handed it to him.
"Thanks, Y/n."
"Sure thing."
You were about to head back into the cafe before he spoke up.
"How are you?"
"I'm good." You smiled.
"That's good to hear."

While you stood outside the cafe chatting with your classmate, Yoongi watched from inside, his eyes burning holes in the side of the boy's head. You were smiling brightly, your always friendly aura showing through your facial expressions and body language.
You always radiated a positive energy that drew him in—apparently it drew other people in as well. The way the guy was smiling at you had Yoongi gripping the edge of the counter.
