Almost 6,000 words! I worked so hard on this imagine and I had SO much fun writing it. I've been looking forward to publishing it for a while! I sincerely hope you guys enjoy it!
                              A wreck. That's all I remember.
I was driving my car across a bridge and a deer jumped in front of me. I swerved and my vehicle went tumbling into the shallow, rocky creek below.
I made it out safely thank goodness. My car is in absolute ruins, though. I retrieve my cell phone from my pocket and dial 911 to report the accident. The call drops immediately.
I furrow my brows and look at the screen. No service.
"Great." I mutter, walking along the side of the road.
I try to call again a few minutes later. The phone rings once and someone picks up, but I don't hear the usual "911. What's your emergency?" that you hear when you dial 911.
"Heeeeey baaaaaaby. What's the situation?"
"Um..."
Regardless, of the very weird response, I went ahead and started talking.
"I'd like to report an accident." I said into the phone.
The next thing I heard was a tone of delight from the man's voice. "Ooh! What kind?"
"A... car accident."
"Oh." He sounded bored all of a sudden. "We get those all the time."
"Well, I need to report it."
"Report this." The voice said, followed by a long dial tone.
"Hello?" I pull my phone away momentarily to see if I even dialed the right number, and I did. But, that man didn't sound like a 911 operator at all.
I brush it off as just some strange happening and head home.
After walking for a few minutes, I finally make it. I walk into my house, relieved to be home.
It's quiet, too quiet. I can't even hear the sound of the air conditioner running. I walk through the house, looking over everything. I cringe, seeing quite a bit of dust living on the furniture. It looked like a week's worth of dust had built up on the surface of almost all of the shelves and tables in the house.
                              "Sheesh." I mutter to myself.
I could've sworn the furniture was clean when I left the house.
I huff out a sigh, heading over to the supply closet to get a cleaning rag to polish the furniture. I flip the light switch on and open the door. I frown upon noticing that the light didn't come on. I reach over and flip the switch on and off multiple times. Nothing.
"Just perfect." I groan, trudging up to the attic to take a look at the breaker box. The main breaker is flipped off. I know I didn't do that. I flip the breaker on and try to flip on the attic light. It doesn't work.
I paid my rent on time. I don't understand why the power isn't working.
I lean against the wall, my eyes trailing over to the mini diorama of the town that sits on a table in the middle of the room. It was here when I bought the house. My ex boyfriend, Taehyung, really liked the little diorama. I didn't care much for it. Lydia, the previous owner, had told me to be careful around it. I asked why, but all she said was to try and stay away from it. I wasn't sure what she meant, and I've always been a little curious, but I wasn't planning on trying to find out.
I turn my focus back to the electricity problem at hand. The faint sound of a vehicle could be heard outside. I walked over to the window and looked out, seeing two vehicles pulling into the driveway. One of them I didn't recognize, but the other one I recognized immediately. My heart dropping to my feet.
"What is he doing here?" I hurry down the stairs and head to the front door, stopping when I notice a book on the coffee table that definitely wasn't there before. Completely forgetting about the two cars outside, I walk over, grabbing the book.
                              Handbook for the Recently Deceased.
"Recently deceased?" I murmured aloud as I flipped through the book. "What is this? How did it get in my house?"
The sound of the front door opening pulled me back to reality. My head snapped towards the entryway, watching as a man in a suit strode in. I drop the book and turn my attention to the unfamiliar man that has just walked into my home.
"The house is in marvelous condition." He announced, turning back to look at the two people who walked in behind him.
Taehyung and his girlfriend that he cheated on me with.
"Hey!" I shout. "What do you think you're doing here?"
"Yes. I used to date the girl who lived here, actually." Taehyung said to the man in the suit, not even sparing a glance at me.
"Lived?" I repeated. "I still live here you idiot! Stop ignoring me!"
No one looked at me, it's as if I wasn't even there.
"It's a pity what happened to her." The man, who I'm assuming is the realtor, spoke.
"Yes. Such a pity." Taehyung nodded somberly.
"What? Wh-what do you mean? What happened?" I asked.
"This isn't really my business, but, why do you want to buy your deceased ex girlfriend's house?"
"Deceased?" I shrieked.
"I always thought it was a beautiful place. I think she would have wanted me to have it."
"What? Woah woah woah. Slow down there." I stomp up to Taehyung. "I do not want you to have my house! Literally anyone but you."
Taehyung looks around the room, not hearing me at all.
"If this is a prank, it's not funny. I know you were upset that I broke up with you, but you cheated on me. What did you expect me to do? Give you another chance? You can go off and live happily with your new girlfriend. I don't care. But did you really have to take it so far as to pretend that I'm dead?" I shout.
"I suppose you don't need a tour of the house since you're already familiar with it." The realtor said.
"No sir. I've already decided I'm gonna buy it."
"What? No! I won't let you do it!" I reach out towards Taehyung to punch his arm, but I go straight through him.
"What the-" I look down at my hand, terrified and bewildered.
"That's wonderful news! We'll settle up on the paperwork and you can start moving in within the next few days." The realtor gave Taehyung's hand a firm shake before walking out of the house.
"I'm thinking I'll hang some of my paintings on this wall here." I heard Taehyung say.
I looked up and saw the two staring at one of the walls in the living room.
"Oh Taehyungie! It'll be perfect!" The girl held onto his arm, leaning over on him.
I cringed at the sight. I can't believe he cheated on me with this ditz.
"You jerk." I mutter under my breath, even though I'm aware he can't see or hear me.
