As you sat with your back to the wall, you squeezed your eyes shut tight from the overwhelming pain in your hands. You sat there and just let the light hit your face. As you just sat there in pain, a large shadow stood in front of you. You opened your eyes and allowed them to adjust. It was a large grown man. He had a semi-long white beard and strong build for his age. He looked at your burned hands and signed. He squatted down and met you eye to eye.

"Y/n Y/l/n," he said. Your eyes widened. There was a brief silence between you and the strange man. For some reason, you felt that he looked familiar to you. You tried to recall where you've seen him. "I don't know if you remember me because it has been some time since our last meeting." As he finished his sentence, you finally remembered.

"You are Tyro. Haru's Father," you said. He smiled at you and nodded his head. He put his hands out and you watched as they hovered under yours. He shut his eyes shook his head.

"Just like your father," Tyro mumbled. Your head shot up as he said that.

        "My father?"

"Come now my dear. Let's get your hands wrapped up," Tyro said as he grabbed your wrists and pulled you up as he stood. You followed him. He knew something about your father. You wanted answers; you just hoped that Tyro could provide them.

***One Month Later***

You were into your second month at the prison. Your hands were healing very slowly and they caused you constant pain. You had to be fed by someone because you couldn't feed yourself. Tyro, whom you found out was your father's greatest friend, explained everything to you.

"Your father was the bravest out of us all," he said to you one day. "He was the first of us to ever make an escape attempt. He was so powerful, he shook the whole island from its foundation." You smiled.

"What happened to him," you asked.

"During his attempt to escape, the Firebenders couldn't stop him. So..." Tyro paused and bowed his head. "They burned his hand the same way they did to you. Then he was killed by the Warden." You cried for days after Tyro told you. But as the days seemed to bleed together, your sorrow was replaced with anger. Later Haru showed up and was thrown into the yard. When you saw him, you smiled. You ran to him and threw your arms around him. You took him by surprise but he hugged you back.

"Y/n! Thank the Avatar you are okay," Haru said as he squeezed you. When he let go of you, you quickly hid your hand behind your back. But, he caught you. Your expression dropped as he put his hands out. You slowly pulled your hands out and placed them in Haru's. His eyes widened as he gently moved your hands with his. "What did they do to you? Who did this," he asked. You could tell in his voice that he was upset.

"They burned my hands because I nearly brought the prison down," you said. He carefully folded his fingers around your burned hands and signed. He was about to speak until his eyes met yours. He saw tears start to build up.

        "Baby girl, what's wrong?"

"My father isn't here," you said as your voice cracked slightly.

"Wait, what do you mean not here? He should be here because he went into battle with my father and they were both taken..." You lowered and shook your head. Tears started to fall down your face. Haru put a hand to your cheek and you lifted your head to look at him. "What is it?"

"He's dead. My father is dead! The Warden killed him as a way of setting an example to those who ever thought about escaping," you said. Haru pulled you into his arms and just held you.

        "I am so sorry Y/n."
