You were the daughter of the Sword Master Piando and you were a prodigy. You could handle any weapon given to you. But your specialty was a sword. You and your father were training his newest student; whom you had figured out already that he was from the Water Tribe. He was excelling greatly and you were happy. You were up late one night when he came back to the training yard. You were meditating in the yard when he saw you.
"Oh, Y/n! I didn't see you there," he exclaimed; slightly startled. "What are you doing up so late," he asked as he walked over to you. You looked at him and stood.
"I could ask the same question. What are you doing here?" He rubbed the back of his head.
"Well, I was going to try to sneak in some more training. I hope you don't mind," he said as he looked away from you. You smiled.
"Of course I don't mind. But in order for you to do so, you must answer one simple question." He lifted a brow at you and smirked slightly.
"Okay," he said questioningly.
"What is your real name," you asked as you stepped to him. His face turned pale.
"But you already know..." he started but you cut him off.
"I want the truth or else it's no deal." He sighed and looked away from you again.
"My name is Sokka," he said after a moment of silence. You smiled slightly as you put your hand to his cheek.
"You shouldn't be ashamed. Your name is beautiful. Besides, you didn't have to lie about who you were," you said. He shook his head.
"But if I hadn't, I wouldn't have been able to get lessons," Sokka replied. You smiled as you dropped your hand.
"You would be surprised. Come now, let's get you into the padding and a practice sword," you said as you took him by the hand. His face flushed a soft color as you guided him into the building. After getting Sokka into the gear and giving him his practice blade, you started to teach him advanced techniques. He caught on quicker than you anticipated and taught him a new set. In the midst of your spar, you could hear your father's footsteps coming. You stopped and looked at Sokka.
"You must hide! He can't know you are here," you said as you hurried to Sokka. He nodded and went to hide. When he was gone, you started doing your defense techniques when your father appeared.
"My Lotus," he called out to you. You stopped and looked at him.
"Yes, father?"
"What are you doing up at this hour? You should be resting," he said.
"I know father. I just wanted to work on a technique I've been practicing to improve my transition from defense to offense," you explained. He smiled at you.
"Well, don't stay up for much longer," he said as he turned away with a smile. He started walking away before he stopped and looked over his shoulder at you. "Also, make sure your friend in the tree there knows to keep on his toes or his reaction time will be slower," he said with a smirk. Your eyes widened as you watched your father walk away. Sokka came out from his hiding spot with a baffled look. You giggled when you saw his expression.
"How did he know I was here," he asked.
"My father is just like that sometimes." After a brief pause, Sokka looked at you and grinned. When you looked at him you giggled. "What?"
"Lotus," he questioned.
"It's my nickname," you explained. He chuckled at you. You grinned and walked closer to him. You got so close to where your noses were inches away from each other. "You find it funny?"
"Maybe just a little," Sokka teased. Your grin widened into a smile.
"If I were you I'd remember the name Lotus. Because it may end up saving your life one day," you warned. He chuckled until he looked back at you and realized that you were serious.
"Wait really?"
"Oh relax Pretty boy. You have nothing to worry about because, after this lesson, you will be at the top of your game," you said. You pecked the tip of his nose and grinned before walking away. When you turned your back to him you heard a loud thud. You turned sharp on your heel and saw Sokka on the ground. He was mumbling to himself.
"Hehe...she called me pretty," he said. You giggled to yourself as you leaned over him.
"Maybe we should call it a night," you suggested.
"Hehe...you called me pretty," he said when he looked at you. You shook your head as you smiled to yourself.
"Come on. Let's get you back to your friends," you said as you grabbed his arm. He giggled as you pulled him to his feet. "Sokka can you walk?"
"If I'm honest, probably not." You laughed. You took off the pads, put his shirt back on him, and took him back to his friends.
