You dodged a blaze of fire as it was launched at you. You rolled to your feet and threw your kunai knife and it stuck in the chest plate of your training partner, who happens to be your older brother. You were a bender but you didn't like to bend much. Your brother, on the other hand, was a gifted Fire bender. You were in a mixed family. Your father was a Fire bender while your mother was an Earth bender. You were the youngest and only Earth Bender out of your three siblings. You lived in the Fire Nation, just outside the main city in the country.

As your brother smirked at you, he pulled the blade from his armor. You smiled as you stood. You crossed your arms over your chest as you spoke.

"Tag, you're it," you commented as a joke.

"Ha, ha very funny," he replied as he threw the blade back at you. You caught it just before it got too close to your face without even flinching.

"Damn! She didn't even flinch," your second older brother exclaimed in astonishment.

"I told you! Now pay up you lost the bet," your older sister replied, opening and closing her fist. You and your brother walked to your siblings laughing.

"What bet," you asked as you pulled your chest piece off.

"Rafa bet that Danté would be able to go through a full sparring session without getting hit by a blade... and he lost," your sister replied. "Now pay up!" You and Danté laughed as Rafa threw a fit like a toddler.

"But... I dOn'T wAnNa," Rafa cried as he fell backward, kicking his legs.

"Ember why do you make him turn into a 2-year-old," you asked as you took off the rest of your padding. Ember shrugged as she stood to avoid getting hit.

"I have no idea what you are talking about," she replied.

"I think she is referring to the man child on the ground throwing a tantrum," Danté clarified, gesturing to their brother. You, Danté, and Ember just watched as Rafa was throwing a fit.

"Sometimes it still amazes me that he is older than me," you commented as you spun your knife.

"Well he is younger than me so it doesn't surprise me," Ember replied.

"That's because you were second born," Danté said as he tossed his padding to the side. "Alright, I've had just about enough of this." Then he walked up to Rafa, grabbed him by his ankle, and held him in the air. Rafa screamed mid-tantrum and panicked.

"What are you doing," he cried in fear.

"Ya know it's sad that I can pick you up so easily," Danté commented.

"Uh-oh. Was Raf throwing a fit again?" Someone new asked. You looked toward the back gate and saw the scarred emperor himself. You smiled wide and ran to him.

"Zuko," you exclaimed with excitement as you jumped into his open arms. He laughed as he caught and squeezed you slightly. "I missed you so much," you whispered in his ear.

"Likewise my love," he replied softly as he set you back on your feet.

"What is he doing here," Rafa questioned before he was dropped.

"Leave him alone! He just got back from the Peace Accords," Danté scolded your brother. When Zuko set you down, he whispered in your ear.

"Come with me. I want to spend time with you while I have it," Zuko whispered gently. You smiled at him and nodded. You looked back to your siblings for permission and they all gave you approving nods. You finished removing the rest of your padding and tossed them to Ember before leaving with Zuko. Zuko guided you down a trail deep in the forest while you asked him about his travels. He told you stories of his travels while continuing down the trail.

"Where are you taking me Zuko?" You asked as you both ducked under low tree branches. He chuckled as he guided you through the terrain.

"Does this seemingly impossible path not seem familiar to you my Love?" Zuko asked with a smile. You listened for a moment and noticed the sound of rushing water. You remembered where you were. He was leading you to your happy place; the place you spent most of your time when your anger became too much to manage. The sound of rushing water was always calming to you.

You knew you were close when the sound of the rushing water grew louder. You started to get excited and took the lead, letting the sound of the water guide you. Zuko chuckled as he trailed behind you. He knew you remembered where you were and he loved how excited you became. Before you started to climb the last small hill, you looked back at him, stuck out your pointer finger, and wiggled it at him, wanting him to take your finger. He chuckled again as he hooked his pointer finger around yours. Then you began to climb the hill. Once you made it to the top, your eyes widened with surprise.

Your space was exactly how you remembered, but it was decorated. Lights were strung in the trees, a blanket was laid out on the ground with a basket of food, and smaller lights spread out all over the ground. You were so mesmerized by everything, it took Zuko's touch to bring you back.

"I wanted to make this special for us considering we have been apart for so long," Zuko spoke softly in your ear as he wrapped one arm around your waist and pulled you close. You both walked to the picnic spot he had set up and showed you all the foods he had waiting. You had noticed everything was your favorite, all the way down to the very desserts he had. He let you wander around the small clearing admiring everything.

"My gosh Zuko. Everything is stunning," you said as you admired the paper lanterns strung from the trees. You were pulled from your enchantment once again when Zukp took hold of your hand. He turned you around and pulled you close with both of your hands in his.

"The only thing that is truly stunning in front of me is you my heart." You couldn't help but blush.

"I don't know how I got so lucky to have found you," you said as you squeezed his hands and pulled him in for a kiss.

"Y/n from the day we first met, you always seemed to have a way to put my mind at ease. You are the calm in my storm, and I don't know where or who I'd be if you had not become such a pillar in my life," Zuko confessed after the kiss. "You are all I could have ever asked for in a partner. You understood my pain, you had the patience to stand with me when I was at my lowest, and you don't see me differently once I became the Fire Lord. You truly are my better half and I'd die before letting anything or anyone take you from me." Then he took away his right hand to reach in his pocket as he knelt down to one knee. Your eyes began to fill with tears as you covered your mouth with your free hand. You could feel your entire body tremble as he began to speak again. "I love the way you are care free and are family oriented. You don't see titles when you are with me. You have always treated me like a person rather than a monster or just the son of a monster. And regardless of how our lives change, you are always my constant. Would you do me the honor of becoming my lover, my best friend, and my partner for life?" He pulled out a gorgeous ring. All of the stones were uncut and raw; the center stone was an amber and the two stones on both sides were uncut emeralds. At this point you officially broke down crying as you stumbled over your answer.

"Yes! Yes of course I will marry you," you replied happily through your tears. He gently slid the ring on your finger as he slowly broke down into tears. You pulled him into a kiss and just settled in each other's loving embrace.
