Today was your special day. You paced by yourself in your room. Katara, your older sister, was in the next room. You fidgeted with the engagement necklace around your neck. You were getting excited more and more you thought about the fact you were marrying Haru. It took a while for Sokka to accept the fact that you were getting married, but he got over himself.
"Y/n aren't you excited? I can't believe that you are getting married already," Katara called from the next room. She walked in with a brush and a hairpiece that used to belong to your mother. She sat you down in front of a large vanity and started to brush out your long dark hair.
"Of course I'm excited! It's not every day that I get married ya know," you replied as your sister styled your hair. She chuckled as she punned your hair up with the hairpiece. "I just wish Mom was here to see it," you said as your head dropped. Katara gripped your shoulders.
"I know. But she will always be here in spirit. Come on don't be sad. It'll ruin your makeup," she said as she looked at you through the vanity. You giggled at her comment.
"Thank you, Katara."
"Come on. Let's get you changed." You nodded and went to change in the next room. After you were able to slip into the dress, you walked out and was greeted by your father, Hakoda, Sokka, and Katara. When Hakoda turned to you, he gasped. His eyes nearly filled with tears. He walked to you and took your hand, guiding you to a long mirror that stood next to where Katara was standing.
"You look stunning," your father said as he kissed your temple. You smiled at him through the mirror.
"Thanks, Daddy. I'm so happy that you are here," you said as you turned to him and hugged him. He held you tight for a moment before letting go.
"I wouldn't miss this for the world. Your dress is a work of art. It has a combination of Earth and Water. The dark green bodice and skirt with the light blue sleeves and shawl."
"I wanted to do something different with my gown. And representing the two nations in one dress I felt was the way to go," you explained.
"Well, I love it. At least one of us is walking down the aisle," Katara said as she put the headpiece on your forehead. "If I'm honest, I don't think Sokka will get married," she said as she leaned in closer. You covered your mouth to try to stifle a laugh.
"Hey! I heard that," Sokka complained.
"I don't think it was that much of a secret," you replied. He rolled his eyes. After adding the finishing touches to your look, you looked perfect. You couldn't have been happier.
"I'll let them know you are ready," Sokka said. You nodded at him and thanked him. Katara left with Sokka and you stood there with your father. You linked your arm with his and waited at the door. There was a light knock and you and your father walked out. When you and your father became visible, music started playing. Everyone stood and watched as you walked down the aisle. When your eyes met Haru's he was in tears.
He smiled at you as he watched you walk to him. Haru looked handsome. His hair was tied up in a perfect knot at the top of his head and he looked nice. When you got closer to him, you let go of your father and took Haru's hand. You walked up a step before facing each other. The man in front of you had begun the ceremony. Since you and Haru didn't want a traditional wedding, you managed to find a way to have a nontraditional Ceremony that was still binding. After the man spoke his part, he looked to you and Haru.
"Do you Haru, take Y/n to be your wife, in sickness and in health, for better or for worse?" Haru smiled as he slid a ring onto your finger.
"I do."
"And do you Y/n take Haru to be your husband, in sickness and in health, for better or for worse?" You smiled back at Haru as you slid a ring on his finger.
"I do."
"I hereby pronounce you husband and wife. You are now one. You may kiss the bride," the man announced with joy. You and Haru stepped to one another and sealed your love with a kiss.
