CHAPTER 8: My neighbor?

*ring* *ring*

Jona woke up due to the loud noise of her phone.

“Arrghh! Who called me this early?”, she irritatedly reached her phone and answered the call.

“Hello-“.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETIE!!”, Jona was surprised by the loud voice of her parents.

“Mom. Dad. Hahaha. You surprised me”, Jona said.

“I’m sorry sweetie. We couldn’t be with you right now so the only way we can greet you is through phone call.”, her dad said.

“No. It's okay. Thank you!”, Jona said.

“We even brought you a cake here. How sad you’re not here with us.”, her mother said sadly.

“It’s alright mom. Me being here in Korea is the best gift that you gave me”, Jona smiled and thought

‘even though a lot of bad things happened here’

“So sweetie, what are you planning to do on your special day?”, her mom asked.

“Hmm. Nothing much. I guess I’ll go for a grocery shopping or hang out with my friends.”, Jona replied.

“That’s great! Have fun today okay?”, her mom said.

“Yes mom.”, Jona replied with a smile.

“Alright sweetie. We’re hanging up now cause we still got lots of things to do. Take care! We love you!”, her parents said.

“I love you too! Goodbye!”, Jona said and ended the call.

Jona sighed and stared at the ceiling. She actually doesn’t have any plans today. She couldn’t hang out with Daniel cause he said that he got plans this day. Mira and Zack seems like they got plans too. Jona sighed once again and got up to take a shower.

Few minutes later, she picked her simple but beautiful dress and wear it. She then wore a doll shoes and picked her pouch.

“Goodbye kitty! Make sure to eat your food okay?”

“Meow~”

Jona opened the door and went outside.

After hours, she arrived at the church. As she walks inside the church, she couldn’t help herself but be filled with awe on how beautiful it is. She sat at the vacant seat and a few minutes later, the mass started.

When the mass ended, Jona went to a mall for a grocery shopping. After that, she got hungry so she went and ordered some food into a restaurant. While she was eating her food, she overheard a conversation from the guys behind her.

“I heard that we’ll be fighting burn knuckles this night.”

‘Burn knuckles?’, Jona thought.

‘Isn’t that Vasco’s group?’

“Yes.”, the other guy replied.

“but we’ll use it as a trap to him. I got really pissed at his demanding attitude. This night, we’ll fight him and the Burn knuckles.”

After that, the guys left.

Jona felt a chill over her body. She got nervous on what’s about to happen to Vasco and his group.

Jona picked her phone and dialed vasco’s number while her hands are trembling. But Vasco didn’t answer her call so she just left a message.

Jona: Vasco, while I was eating at a restaurant in Gangbuk, I overheard some guys saying that they’re going to fight the burn knuckles. I don’t know who they are but please be careful! Please warn Jace and your other group members! Tell them to be careful!

Jona checked the time and it’s already 5pm.

‘I hope Vasco will read my message’.

Jona is still anxious but she did her best to calm down and left to a restaurant to go home.

As she’s walking towards home, she looked up and noticed the clouds are getting darker.

‘Looks like it’s going to rain.’

Luckily there was a convenience store so she went there to buy an umbrella. An hour later, the rain started to pour but fortunately, she arrived at her apartment.

“Kitty~ I’m home”

“Meow~”

Jona arranged the things that she bought when she heard a notification from her phone.

-bling-

Vasco: We’re fine Jona. Thank you for your concern! We already beat those bad guys!

Jona: Thank goodness!

Jona sighed in relief.

‘I’m glad they’re fine but I wonder who’s the other guy that they’re planning to fight. I’m sure it’s not from Burn knuckles.’

Jona was lost in thought when she heard a loud thud from the outside.

“Huh? Who’s that?”

She quickly opened the door to check who it was and she was so surprised to see Johan sitting on the floor, panting while looking all wet.

She also observed that he got many bruises on his face while his hands are bleeding.

“What happened to you? And why are you here?”, Jona asked

“None of your business”, Johan got up and went to the room beside hers.

‘Wha-? It was him? My neighbor?’

Jona looked at the room beside hers with her mouth wide open.
