CHAPTER 34

CHAPTER 34: Confession

A week has passed and Jona answered the examination at ease. After she got the results, she went back to the apartment happily.

'I'm excited to show the results to Johan'

Jona thought as she hums happily. She was about to knock on Johan's door when she heard voices in her room. She leaned on her door to listen the voices she heard but she still couldn't hear them clearly.

'Who are they? Are they robbers?'

All of a sudden, the door opened and Jona fell to the floor.

"Ow!"

"Oh no! Sweetie!"

Jona looked up and she saw her parents' face.

"Mom? Dad?"

Her parents helped her stand up and she hugged them immediately.

"We miss you sweetie!"

"I miss you too mom and dad!"

The three of them started sobbing and patted each other's backs.

"But mom, dad, what brings you here all of a sudden?"

"Well.. your overprotective father wanted to visit you.", Jona's mother said as she gazed at her husband.

"Huh?", Jona titled her head out of confusion.

"Jona?"

The three of them looked at the door when they heard Johan's voice.

"Oh! Johan! Meet my parents. Mom, Dad, he's Johan. I'm sure you already saw him through the phone."

Johan bowed to them.

"Hello ma'am, sir."

Jona's mom quickly approached Johan and held his hand.

"Johaann~ come come. You're welcome to our family."

Meanwhile, Jona's father just looked at Johan while frowning.

"Um.. Actually ma'am, sir, I bought this cookies for Jona but since you're here, you can eat this too."

"Oh my! Such a kind guy! Come here Hon, let's taste the cookies Johan bought."

"Ehem!", Jona's dad slowly approached Johan. Meanwhile Johan felt nervous but managed himself to look calm.

"So your name is Johan?"

"Yes sir"

"Do you like my daughter?"

Both Jona and her mom dropped the cookies that they were about to eat after hearing her father's question.

"Dad!", Jona exclaimed.

"What? I'm just asking-"

Jona's father didn't get to finish his sentence when Johan spoke.

"Yes, sir. I like your daughter...a lot."

"Omo", Jona's mother covered her mouth out of surprise.

Meanwhile, Jona stared at Johan while she can feel her heart beating so fast.

"... and I'd do anything for her."

Johan started to kneel down and looked at Jona's father sincerely.

"I may not be a son of a wealthy man but I'll do everything to keep your daughter safe and happy. Sir..."

"May I court your daughter, Jona Mendez?"

Jona's mother jumped and clapped her hands out of happiness while Jona felt like she's tearing up.

The strict look of Jona's father was replaced with a smile because of what Johan said.

"You're a good guy.. And that's the kind of guy I want my daughter to be with."

"Johan... you can court our daughter.", he said and smiled.

Johan stood up and bowed to him.

"Thank you very much sir!"

Jona's father patted Johan's shoulder. Johan then approached Jona and held her hand. Johan slowly knelt as he said.

"Jona... will you be my-"

Johan paused and didn't get to finish what he was about to say when Jona spoke.

"Of course! You know that I love you, Johan!", Jona said while smiling at him.

Johan smiled and hugged her out of happiness.

"I love you too, Jona"
